Gerrit Cole hits him to the side. ⚡ https://t.co/DCnauZj0xz
According to SEth Rothguy of the YES Network, Cole allowed four hits and two runs won in 5.2 innings. He has not yet walked and batted a hitter in the direction to pitch 53 receptions (87 pitches).
Cole made three starts at Yankees summer camp. He struck out nine in more than 5.2 innings in his bout, allowing four hits.
In his first appearance, Cole threw five ball frames in a race, withdrawing six. A solo shot from Andújar, the only success.
Friday will mark Cole’s final start before he takes the mound on July 23 on opening day instead of protecting world Series champion Washington Nationals. Nats ace Max Scherzer will oppose him in Washington, D.C.
Judging by more than one long ball, Cole seems ready to withstand the giant exaggeration he brought from Houston, where he led the league with 326 strikeouts heading for a record of 20 and five with a 2.five0 ERA and 0.89five WHIP.
