WARREN (AP) — Five juveniles were arrested Tuesday in connection with vandalism at the Warren City Schools Recreation and Wellness Center structure earlier this month.
John Lacy, WCS’s director of business operations, said, “Based on our internal investigation, WCS was able to provide the Warren City Police Department with videos and photographs of several minors who entered the Warren City School District’s secure structure site. Student recreation and wellness center on the night of the robbery. Eventually, arrest warrants were issued and several juveniles were arrested on charges similar to the break-in and vandalism of the WCS Recreation and Wellness Center.
According to a Warren police report filed last week, Lacy told police that a group of juveniles vandalized the press box at Mollenkopf Stadium.
According to Lacy’s account, 4 unidentified minors illegally entered the school and vandalized the visitors’ press box on April 6 at approximately 11:30 a. m. The suspects, two women and two children, allegedly parked their motorcycles at the back of the visitors’ bleachers before jumping over the fence a concrete barricade.
Once on the stadium grounds, the miners allegedly entered the press box, disconnected all the cameras and turned on a fire extinguisher in the press box.
Lacy reported vandalism at the softball box and its shelter.
Subsequently, a lock installed on a trapdoor leading to the ceiling of the press room and the chambers was restored.
In last week’s incident, wellness center construction crews reported vandalism at the structure’s site. The vandals used latex adhesive to swear words and draw obscene images on new drywall.
Several appliances were damaged, in addition to a Verizon shelf, four bags of grout, three buckets of latex glue, and buckets of screws and nails strewn around the structure site. In addition, two chimney extinguishers were set on fire in the building.
The foreman estimated that it took many hours of paint to cover up and update the damage.
