A handful of sports betting in Kansas closes July with a 50% year-over-year increase

Statewide gaming grosses are also up about 40% year over year, with DraftKings and FanDuel accounting for 87% of that overall crop.

July is known for its sparse sports calendar and limited betting menu. Sports betting in Kansas, like many other states where sports betting is legal, reached its monthly low point in July 2023 and, according to the most recent figures released through the Kansas Lottery. , this year will be no different.  

Kansas sportsbooks posted their second-worst overall result of 2024 (7. 54%) to generate $9. 199 million in revenue.  

May and June were the months of the year when Kansas sportsbooks maintained a double-digit share percentage.  

However, July’s revenue was not the lowest of the year: February’s meager 4. 2% generated only $8. 46 million for operators, despite that month’s $203. 0 million.  

The state coffers collected $919,947 in tax contributions, of which $5,237 came from Kansas sportsbooks.  

As expected, both salary and income source decreased by 12. 9% and 1. 8% month over month, respectively. On the positive side, the sports market in Kansas is developing overall, having made abundant gains year after year in any of the categories. , completing with a 53. 1% accumulation in control and a 34. 7% accumulation of income.  

Kansas sportsbooks have also taken in more than $100 million in bets each month since September 2023; the amount has decreased month by month since March.  

Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly recently signed the 2001 House Bill authorizing her state to offer the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs and MLB’s Kansas City Royals incentives for stadium assignments to cross the state line. Some of the tax cuts may simply come from Kansas’ sports revenue, while neighboring Missouri still lacks a legal sports market.  

There are only 4 sports retail sites in Kansas, operated through DraftKings, FanDuel, ESPN BET and Caesars.  

These four sites collected a total of $3. 23 million in retail bets, and ESPN BET’s spot at Hollywood Casino accounted for $2. 26 million of that loot, or just about 70 percent. Only the sites DraftKings and FanDuel reported earnings totaling $52,372 for the month.  

The real action comes at Kansas’ six online sportsbooks, where $118. 8 million in bets were settled in July, generating $9. 15 million in profits for operators.  

BetMGM enjoyed the functionality of the pool, with its 11. 3% win rate generating $964,426 in winnings out of a stake of $8. 51 million.  

DraftKings and FanDuel were the only two online sports sites in Kansas to achieve eight-figure revenues and seven-figure revenues.  

DraftKings is by far the most productive of the group in terms of management, now with more than $500 million in activity so far this year.
