GARNER, North Carolina (AP) – Amazon says it plans to rent more than twice the diversity of staff it had planned for a distribution center in Garner, North Carolina.
Raleigh News And Observer reports that the giant center plans to rent to more than 3,000 people. The facility is under construction.
The e-commerce giant had first announced that it will employ another 1,500 Americans on the site. But the coronavirus pandemic has replaced termination patterns. And Amazon has a higher level of staff to track the progress of online shopping.
Amazon said it can pay Garner’s staff no less than $1 an hour. The rate is more than double North Carolina’s minimum wage.
The combined apple employs more than 5,000 employees circulating through the state.
