Every team in Major League Baseball will shut its spring training camp over concerns about the coronavirus pandemic, a move that came in the wake of the Philadelphia Phillies announcing Friday five players had tested positive for COVID-19.
Closures occur when MLB owners and players review and negotiate a deal to start the season and raise the option that the virus outbreak can also thwart all start-up attempts this year.
A user familiar with the verdict told The Associated Press that spring complexes in Florida and Arizona would be temporarily closed due to new events. The user spoke under anonymity condition because there has not been an official statement.
Amenities will go through thorough cleaning and disinfection. No one will be able to go unnoticed without a negative verification of the virus.
Shortly after the Phillies became the first known team to suffer the outbreak, Toronto closed its site in Dunedin, Florida, about 8 miles from the Philadelphia camp in Clearwater. The Blue Jays said one player had symptoms of the virus.

The San Francisco Giants’ facility in Scottsdale, Arizona, closed after a person who visited the site and a circle of relatives developed symptoms Thursday. Texas closed its camp about 30 miles away in Surprise, saying no one had tested positive but was looking to make larger test protocols.
In addition, the Houston Astros said a player running at their spring camp in West Palm Beach, Florida, tested positive for several days and is recovering. The Astros said they had “implemented all the aptitude and defense protocols,” but did not say the camp was closed.
Caught in a fierce war for money, the owners and the union expected players to start testing on Tuesday and then start a circular spring school moment next weekend. The Phillies said three members of the camp had also tested positive. The team did not identify a large apple of those affected.

The Washington Nationals World Series champion, who did not reopen spring camp that percentageed with Houston after his last game in mid-March, said a minor leaguer tested positive for the Dominican Republic. The team stated that the player is not on its premises.
