We already expected a new pair of Beats headphones to be on the way, thanks to a hidden code in the most recent edition of iOS, but now a directory on the U. S. Federal Communications Commission’s website is now available to the U. S. Federal Communications Commission. The U. S. Securities and Exchange Commission (FCC) almost certainly does. New recording for Beats Solo 4, made through Apple (via 9to5Mac), and if the FCC recording is public, that means it will likely be released very soon.
By the criteria of the best wireless earbuds, the Beats Solo 4 are fine and indeed to be expected. The Beats Solo 3 Wireless launched in September 2016, and 8 years is quite an era when it comes to tech releases. introduced before the original AirPods, for example, and we expect the AirPods four to arrive this year. . .
But hey, at least they’re on their way now and deserve to come with an improvement in sound quality (as you’d expect, after all this time), as well as features borrowed from the AirPods Max, such as traditional spatial audio. Recent Beats headphones can be hit or miss in terms of the precise features of the AirPods: fast pairing is guaranteed, but Find My and audio sharing isn’t, for example, so we’ll see exactly what’s in the Beats menu. Only four each time they become official.
Unlike the AirPods Max, however, the Solo 4 is said to come with lossless audio via USB-C, which is also available on Beats Studio Pro, and could make it a smart choice for audiophiles with an iPhone 15 with Apple Music. You don’t usually expect Beats and audiophiles to be a natural choice, but if those new headphones can work with the additional solution via USB-C, who knows?
There’s no further data on the Beats Solo Four in the FCC filing (unless you like reading compliance reports on Bluetooth Low Energy), but we can make an educated guess about its most likely price.
The Beats Solo 3 launched at $199, but that was 8 years ago, and inflation has been. . . A little very spicy ever since. The Beats Studio Pro, released in 2023, are priced at US$249, so we can assume that there will be some light between the price of the Solo 4 and the Studio Pro. I think we can assume between $249 and $299 for the Solo 4, and hopefully it sits on the low end (although I probably wouldn’t bet on that).
I note here that the Beats Studio Pro dropped to a partial price in an almost no-delay post-launch sale; it would possibly take a little longer to see similar deals on the Solo 4, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see them get similar discounts. a few months after launch, so even if they launch for close to $300, you may only have to pay $200 or even less if you’re patient.
As for when I’ll be able to buy them, as I said, there’s no official word yet, but hopefully it’ll be in the next few weeks, and possibly it’ll only be a few days before they’re announced and you can sign up. the ranks of the most productive Beats headphones.
