Bwin’s Russian site never had a chance, says former CEO

Bwin’s legal Russian sports betting site has never been successful, according to the operator’s former CEO.

Bwin.ru CEO Dmicheck Sergeyev recently posted an autopsy of his time on his non-public channel Telegram, spurred through Facebook’s reminder that it has been 3 years since Bwin’s parent company, GVC Holdings, announced his joint venture with Russian-legal bookmaker Digital Betting LLC.

Sergeyev (pictured), who joined betting operator Parifit last year and appointed CEO of the company’s Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) division, noted that Bwin.ru had had a problematic start as he had to delay the launch of the site until November. 2017

Sergeyev said the delay was a component due to the reality that GVC was distracted through its continued integration of Bwin.componenty’s brands and that Sergeyev had “serious fears” that GVC would take coldness by taking on entry into the Russian market. Sergeyev said his June 2017 press conference, which he delivered Bwin.ru, was aimed at believing that GVC “does not reposition his mind.”

Despite the guarantees of a large marketing budget, Sergeyev said Bwin.ru “lived without marketing investments” and that racount generated enough coins to meet his staff’s payroll. This was a giant component due to the reality that the owner of Digital Betting, the Russian billionaire Alexander Mammoth, decided to resume a marketing agreement between his eminent virtual sports portal Championat and the Russian bookmaker Fonbet, a resolution that left Bwin.ru more or less himself.

Despite these obstacles, Sergeyev said the site “almaximum completed self-sufficiency” after the 2018 FIFA World Cup thanks to tireless public relations efforts and the assistance of more than one of the leading marketing subsidiaries. But Sergeyev, who claimed that Bwin.ru never had more than 0.25% of Russia’s online betting market, saw the writing on the wall and went to Parifit in May 2019.

In February, Mammoth’s most important friend washed his hands of Bwin.ru and moved the valuables to a mysterious comparative apple founded in Cyprus, known as Nirethru Holdings Ltd.

SimilarWeb’s knowledge for May shows that Bwin.ru recorded only 68,000 site visits, more than 3 Russian legal bookmakers (who, 888.ru, suspended their operations after COVID-1nine canceled the maximum of primary sporting events). Fonbet crowned the May traffic chart with a virtugreatest friend 4.8 million views.

So far, no other Western Apple has announced a Russian legal operation, PokerStars said last August that it planned to apply for a native permit. It is rumoured that the online betting giant Bet36five is negotiating its own Russian joint venture, however, so far there has been no official sign that those rumours were somewhat strange in relation to words.
