We have heard a lot about the vulnerable elderly population during the COVID-1nine pandemic. But even before that, a study through UCLA’s Cinput for Health Policy Reseek found that during California, one in five adults over the age of 6 live in “no man’s economic land, unable to meet basic desires but is not eligible for government assistance.” “
The Santa Barbara Community Action Command is addressing this head-on.
“The CAC Senior Nutrition Program offers a daily nutritious meal for this vulnerable population in Santa Barbara County, where desires are compounded by the h8 cost of living in the area, the basic best friend for the loss of affordable housing,” said Patricia Keelean, CEO. He explained that these “invisible poor people” achieve enough social security to hide their basic desires and yet do not appear to be eligible for government social policy programs, such as SSI and SNAP.
“The low source of coins in the seniors we serve is financially obliged, forced to make a variety of homes, medicines and food,” he said. “Because all three can’t, a healthy meal regularly becomes your lowest priority. This was the prestige of the new years, then comes the COVID-1nine and the directive on on shelters on site! So there is a wonderful variety of paintings to be made now.

The county-wide program is free, with no qualifications or evidence of age, source of currency, or sending required money. Participants only sign up for home delivery or dining with others at online paint centers, even though lately they are COVID-19 takeaway foods.
“Normal Apple Mabig consumers of netpaintings sites switched to home delivery once the closure occurred,” Keelean said. “But there has been a quest to feed other Americans or with inconsistent addresses or other delivery issues, so this distribution continues and insists here has also increased.” Higher demands during the pandemic across more than 50 cent-consistent, so the CCC now supplies food to more than 700 seniors daily.
When the ACC called for volunteers to support a larger call in April, about two dozen contacted the commission, and the maximum was more than 55, said Development Director Linda Rosso. Their first assignment to organize non-public care packages that were delivered to seniors confined to the house with one at their daily meals.
“Through a robust program of trained volunteers, Senior Nutrition can fulfill the purposes of our upcoming list of registrants without incurring additional fees from paid delivery drivers and on-site meal hosts,” said Rosso, who can also use more help at any time. “By employing volunteers as drivers and site hosts, we may be able to reinvest coins stored in paid personnel in the food supply.” This suggests that ACC can feed even more older people.
“By expanding the diversity of drivers and hosts of the site through volunteering,” Rosso added, “we may be able to give other older Americans more time, by supporting socialization and security checks.”
