Chow Down has hosted culinary festivals at Piece Hall in Halifax and Lincoln Castle.
They recruited street vendors to occupy Temple Arches, the deceptive outdoor occasion on Globe Road on the South Coast, for 10 consecutive weekends, from birth through July 30.
Chow Down is a collaboration between New Citizens, Leeds Indie Food and Chapter 81 that promotes the most productive independent food and beverage brands in the north.
They were forced to cancel 12 festivals planned for 2020 due to the pandemic, but instead introduced a concept of remote social table service at Temple Arches.
The festival site is a component of the ceG temple layout in Holbeck: it is an adaptable occasion that deceives alongside a railway viaduct that was hosted by Oktoberfest in 2019.
There may be 22,000 square feet of outdoor space, entertainment, music and street art in the hope that this will drive attendance south of the Aire River.
Tickets must be booked in advance and visitors can arrive by activity (this is a 10-minute walk from Leeds Station) or by motorcycle, with a large motorcycle park.
Chow Down director Matt Long said: “We are very happy to bring Chow Down to Leeds for anything else in the summer and repaint with CEG. With the reopening of UK businesses, restaurants and pubs, it’s amazing to see the city come back to life.
“Unfortunately, we’ve seen all of our parties cancel the pandemic, and with most Americans trapped in their homes over the past four months, we’ve been thinking about some concepts to create a lasting hoax for Chow Down.”

The first weekend (July 30 to August 2) features Middle Feast, Kenyan animator Nyama Choma, Pizza Loco and Little Red Food Truck, a subsidiary of Selos angeles Bar.
Summer programming includes Seitan’s Kebab in Manchester, Little Bao Boy, OnaRoll sushi stand, Van What’s Your Beef burger, MorMor Middle East cuisine, Holy Mountain Kitchen, What the Cluck fried bird van, Indian street food through Vaso Kitchen, Soul Shack on Jamaican theme and The Little Korean.
Northern Monk and North Brewing Co run the bars, with rotating beers from Anthology, Nomadic, Kirkstall Brewery, Meanwood Brewery and Amity.
The bars also serve Cansecco wines, a variety of Fairindusattempt canned vegan wines, cocktails and gins.
Who’s playing?
DJs are big names and local talent.
For opening weekend, there will be sets from Crazy P, PBR Streetgang, Tristan da Cunha, We Are Fierce, BBC Introducing Emily Pilbeam, Soul Boutique, Ed Vector, Ninety Nine and Gip Dammone.
Hyde Park Brass Band has also been booked for weeks.
How does it work with social estrangement?

– Orders for food and beverages can be transmitted via a scanned code at the table. Food is taken directly to the tables. The queue is never allowed much.

Temple Arches on Globe Road is within walking distance of the city centre and is close to the Leeds Train and the Liverpool Canal. The southern front of Leeds Station is a 10-minute walk away. A giant motorcycle park will be available.
