On Sunday, no fewer than 10 states had temperatures above 10 degrees Fahrenheit, however, weather officials expect dozens of U.S. cities to see their heat index rise to 3 digits on Monday.
Most heat warnings occurred in the Northeast and Midwest, but the West Coast also experienced warmer temperatures this weekend during the heat wave.
A giant crowd of people, some dressed in masks, were seen in Huntington Beach, California, on Sunday when temperatures were high but preferred a heat warning.
States with a three-digit heat index included Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Alabama, Tennessee, and Virginia.
A map of Weather.com shows that Nevada and Virginia were tied for the maximum logical heat index at 107F. Arkansas arrived at the time with 106F.
Although the great heat wave influence has been in the Midwest and Northeast, several places in the south and west are also experiencing heat.
Phoenix, Arizona, h the warmest temperature on Saturday at 112F and continued on Sunday to 106F.
The heat wave and h8 temperatures are expected to remain until mid-week, and then the regions begin to cool slightly.
But the heat is so unbearable in Washington, D.C. that authorities announced that loose coronavirus test sites would be closed Monday due to “dangerously high temperatures.”
