Delta Govt develops agro-industrial park to diversify – Aniagwu

Delta’s government said Thursday that it will present a comprehensive agro-industrial park to diversify the state’s economy beyond oil.

State Information Commissioner Charles Aniagwu revealed this by speaking to hounds after an inspection of the Aboh-Ogwashi agro-industrial park in the Aniocha local government region of the south of the state.

He said the allocation is one of the government’s serious efforts to diversify the state’s economy.

“You will remember that our electoral crusade of our first term, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa published an acronym SMART Agenda that includes agricultural reforms and accelerated industrialization.

“Governments after governments have continued to pontificate diversification by doing much in this direction.

“The agro-industrial park is a step towards diversifying the state economy beyond oil revenues.

“Because we have a comparative merit in agriculture in the Delta, the governor saw compatibility to set up this agro-industrial park and with the committee very hard, he will realize that it is a sandwich.

This will gain advantages for all deltas, regardless of their location, because everyone interested in agricultural production can bring their products for processing.

“This allocation is a big step in diversifying the economy across the agricultural sector,” Aniagwu said.

The chairman of the Implementation Committee, Professor Eric Eboh, said the assignment inspection was designed to assess the prestige of the paintings as opposed to the overall allocation painting plan.

He said the allocation had under been a rigorous feasibility, evaluation and research procedure at the national level and around the world with more than 3 foreign banks competing to finance the allocation.

“As you know, the agro-industrial park is one of the jewels of the Okowa administration.

“The allocation has been validated worldwide through 3 banks as viable and self-sufficient and, by the time the allocation begins, the agricultural price chain will never be the same in Delta.

“It intends to change the rules of the game and offer a one-stop shop for agribusiness for domestic consumption and export in the Delta.

“The allocation that began in October has an 18-month finishing touch schedule and the Oghi-Uku Dam is one of the key criteria for the location of the agro-industrial park,” eboh said.

The assignment consultant, Arch Kester Ifeadi, in a white paper said the concept of the assignment began three years ago.

He said the land includes 220 hectares with one hundred hectares of rice paddies as an anchor assignment and is confident that there will be a constant source of electricity and water in the park.

“A feasibility study has been conducted and the existing one has been selected as the maximum suitable due to the water bodies in the area.

“The plant is the machine room for advertising plots of 1. 5 hectares of land for agro-industrial investments.

“The Parque Centro which is the cornerstone and epicenter of Agroindustrial Park will come with the rice factory, warehouses, residences, hotels, conferences, trainings, seminars, studies and quality laboratory.

“There is a 1. 4 cubic meter water lake to the year-round allocation, adding the dam and the prospective power generation to restart the allocation.

“For the sustainability of the project, it will be led through the personal sector through Delta State Agro-Industrial Park Limited, with Delta with 40%, MRG with 30% and Norsworthy Investments with 30%,” he said.

The assignment was monitored through senior government officials, adding the Commissioners of Agriculture, Mr. Julius Egbedi, Trade and Investment, Chief Chika Ossai, Housing Development, Chief Festus Ochonogor, the Chairman of Delta’s Investment and Development Agency, Mr. Paul Nmah, Director of DIDAArray Chief Lucky Omoru, and the Chief Economic Adviser of the Governor , Dr. Kingsley Emu, among others.
