MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A new coronavirus checkup for Miami Lakes citizens opened on Monday.
The site, Miami Lakes Youth Center, is made up of New York doctors who are now joining the South Florida war opposed to the coronavirus.
“This virus that killed more than 30,000 Americans in New York,” said Dr. Ramon Tallaj, president and founder of SOMOS Community Care.
SOMOS doctors and doctors are a combination of immigrant doctors serving New York’s low-income communities. They responded to the coronavirus on the front line in the state of their home and are now turning to The South Florida hot spots.
“If you haven’t been sick and have symptoms, come home,” Tallaj said.
Miami Lakes provides nasal samples and immunity tests by appointment only Monday through Friday from nine a.m. to one p.m.
SOMOS doctors hope to support minority communities suffering the pandemic to the fullest and send a strong message to those who live there.
“As undeniable as that, once you’re over five years old and you get the virus, there’s a wonderful option to get seriously ill and die,” Tallaj said.
They urge everyone to glue the house if and wear a mask.
Residents make an appointment at somosny.com or by calling (833) 766-6769.
A SPOKEsman for SOMOS said the crowd would be in South Florida for 2 weeks.
