The US president elected by President Donald Trump said Friday that he had a productive verbal exchange with Chinese prime minister Xi Jinping, covering a critical issue, adding trade, fentanyl and social media platform of Tiktok.
Taking to his social media platform, Trump described the call as highly constructive, expressing hope for positive outcomes. “The call was a very good one for both China and the U.S.A. It is my expectation that we will solve many problems together, and starting immediately. We discussed balancing Trade, Fentanyl, TikTok, and many other subjects,” he wrote.
Trump also came under pressure on the importance of collaboration between the two nations, declaring, “President Xi and I will do everything imaginable to make the global not more violent and safer!”
Earlier, Chinese state media outlet Xinhua confirmed that the two leaders had spoken by phone but did not divulge specific details of their discussion.
The exchange follows the previous comments of Trump on January 6, where he pointed out the continuous communication with the representatives of XI and expressed optimism about the strengthening of their bilateral relationship.
Earlier in the day, China announced that Jinping will not attend the inauguration of Donald Trump, who takes office on January 20 in Washington, but appointed Vice President Han Zheng as special representative.
