Donald Trump has agreed to hold a debate with Kamala Harris, after the latter said she was “ready” to face him.
Trump had said in the past that he would not debate Harris – the current vice president and most likely the Democratic nominee in the November elections – because she was not the official nominee.
But Harris has already garnered enough votes from Democratic delegates to become her party’s presidential nominee — the online voting procedure doesn’t end until Monday.
“I’m completely willing to accept the effects of this ‘coup’ and upgrade Joe on the debate level with Crazy Kamala Harris,” Trump said on his own social media site, Truth Social.
“I spent many millions of dollars, time and effort fighting Joe, and when I won the debate, they threw a new candidate into the ring. Fair enough, but that’s the way it is!”
“The rules will be similar to the rules of my debate with Sleepy Joe, who was treated horribly through his party, but with a room full of spectators,” he added in a later message, referring to President Joe Biden, who has since resigned. of his position. Running for re-election.
This second post was then deleted for a few minutes before being reposted, and Trump scrapped his proposal for a “major” town hall meeting on the same date if Ms. Harris “would not or simply could not debate. “

While no official main points have been released, Trump said the debate would take place on Fox News and take his position on September 4.
“The Fox News debate will take place in the Greater Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, at a location in a domain to be determined,” he wrote.
“The moderators of the debate will be Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum. “
Ms. Harris said in the past last month that she was “ready” after Fox News proposed a presidential debate between the two candidates.
Harris is poised to be the first woman of color to win a primary party nomination. He has not yet selected his vice presidential nominee, but he is expected to interview the candidates this weekend.
Earlier this week, Trump once again sparked controversy after questioning the vice president’s racial identity, prompting gasps at a conference hosted by the National Association of Black Journalists at ChicagoArray.
