Sir Alex Ferguson was so furious that he then punished Fulham by signing the striker. And one of the United centre-backs who scored the goal never played for Fergie again. Not only for this, but the other reasons were also not falsified.
United, however, fought back, thanks in large part to a brace from one of the summer signings.
