Following the release of Fallout on TV programming in 2024, I think a lot of other people are watching this globally for the first time and thinking about how the Ghoul “really scared them. “I know that’s actually what I thought. It turns out that Walton Goggins, the cool and scary outlaw, was also hilariously freaked out while he was completely made up as a character, and the story is the best.
While talking about his recently created video game adaptation on Amazon Prime, Goggins went into detail about what his character looked like and how it affected his Southern drag signature with CinemaBlend. On IGN, she talked about Ghoul’s makeup and what it was like to wear it during filming. While filming in Namibia, South Africa, he explained that there was one day when he was actually exhausted and took a nap in full Ghoul mode. This caused him to be frightened when he woke up, as he hilariously explained:
There was a time when we were in Namibia, man, I was so exhausted, and I had all this on top of me, and it was these little caravans, everything they had in Namibia. And I woke up from this very weird nap, and I was sleeping in front of that mirror, and I woke up and I thought, “Oh my God!Dammit! Like that scared me. I freaked out, that’s what I’m saying. “
Just watching Fallout, I felt like it wasn’t a joke to film it. Much of it feels hands-on and the appearance of all the characters is detailed and masterful. The character of Walton Goggins is a prime example of this. The Ghoul is in the arena, moving from position to position, stealing parts of the draw and taking on big bad names. It’s understandable that filming something like this is exhausting, and given the dark and wild subject matter of the series, it can cause some “very weird” ones. “naps.
I can say with certainty that what happened to him would have “scared” me as well. Waking up with a face full of prosthetics, while funny in hindsight, is scary, especially when you’re made unrecognizable. You can hardly tell what the Justified star is underneath all that Ghoul makeup, as you can see in the side-by-side comparison on the TikTok below. So, I understand why he “freaked out” when he woke up in front of a mirror.
In a way, I guess you can say that Walton Goggins was given a taste of ghoul medicine because of this, which makes it even more fun. The character of Fallout is, in fact, brutal and terrifying in the most productive way, and this is partly due to his commitment to turning the actor into this dystopian being who is perhaps the greatest villain he has played in his career.
Fallout temporarily has one of Amazon’s most productive original screens, and that’s thanks to stories like this. The Righteous Gemstones star and the team of this screen are committed to bringing the world of video games to life, and it’s through watching the episodes and listening to funny BTS stories like this one, we can see that all the difficult paintings pay off.
To step back and see Walton Goggins scare a lot of people, but not himself, like Ghoul, you can stream Fallout with an Amazon Prime membership. Also, be sure to stay tuned to CinemaBlend for more updates on Season 2 now that it’s over. Revamped and more entertaining BTS stories like this one.
