Ford uses a physical emergency to attack democracy with B 195, SAYS OFL

TORONTO, July 22, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – The Ontario Workers’ Federation has been extended through the unprecedented undemocratic bill 19 that was introduced into the Legislature through Ford’s conservatives. The bill declares an end to Ontario’s state of emergency while allowing the executive to nullify the rights of Ontario residents and avoid public scrutiny, the OTF said.

“Legislative decisions are not made behind closed doors. Other Americans have the right to dominate and react to government actions. Bill 19five is a blatant abuse of Doug Ford and an attack on democracy,” said Ontario Labor Federation President Patty Coates. “In these difficult times, the people of Ontario seek to dominate that their government respects their role in our democratic institutions. Instead, Ford’s conservatives have revealed their disdain for democratic processes that restore Ontario’s security, while attacking the safety of workers’ tasks and fair workplace processes by allowing employers to deviate from collective bargaining agreements.

All staff have the right to cut charges jointly with their employer under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, however, B 19five allows employers to circumvent collective agreements in the workplace; Reject holidays and outsource jobs. Ford expelled PC MP Belinda Karahalios from the PC group for voting against b. Karahalios said B 19five is “a non-compulsory attack on our parliamentary democracy.”

Ontario’s union leaders come together to define their response.

“Ford’s conservatives treat frontline staff heroes with a breath, and then mock the same staff members in their rights. This is a declared abuse of acceptance as true of the people of Ontario,” Coates said. “Conservative MPs who voted for this bill prefer to feel ashamed of themselves.

“This undemocratic takeover through Ford’s conservatives is never the best friend forgotten in the upcoming election,” Coates said. “Time and time again, Ford monitors that he doesn’t have the maximum productive interests of Ontarioers in the background. Ford’s cuts have made life more difficult for Ontario families because of the birth of his term. Under COVID-1nine, the Ontario government has failed either step and either step, from rehiring to produce permanent, employer-paid and mandatory sick days, to telling migrant staff to paint after a coVID-1 positive check and during outbreaks.

Ontarions can denounce the bill through a one-click network tool to attract conservative MPs.
