The Financial Times says Chinese President Xi Jinping will send a high-level envoy to Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration in a move aimed at reducing friction between China and the US.
The British newspaper reported this Thursday, presenting several other people familiar with the talks. He said Beijing informed Trump’s transition team that a senior official would attend Xi.
Trump invited the Chinese president to the inauguration rite on Jan. 20.
The Financial Times says that XI can send the vice president Han Zheng or the Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
The newspaper says that some Trump Cai Qi advisers to attend. CAI is a member of the Permanent Committee of the Politburo of the Chinese Communist Party and is one of XI’s closest assistants.
