Fugro has begun a four-month marine site characterization crusade for Swedish force organisation Vattenfall at two main offshore wind progression sites more than 40 km off the coast of Norfolk, United Kingdom. The geographical knowledge resulting from Fugro’s geotechnical studies will fuel the gcircular genus of the Norfolk Vanguard and Norfolk Boreas wind farms, which have a global installed capacity of 3.6 GW, sufficient to force more than 3. nine million households.
Based on its friendliest and most dynamic geotechnical drilling vessel (DP2), the Fugro Scout conducts surveys and samples its SEACALF cone penetration verification system® Mk V DeepDrive at any of the sites, and can perform on-site and corporate checks. soil elegance laboratories in Wallingford, UK, and Nootdorp in the Netherlands. Site characterization paints are divided into two projects: the first will help Vattenfall optimize the technical design of the wind turbine base; by the time one will help Vattenfall determine the maximum effective cable trail from the mainland directly to the turbines.
Rob Anderson, assignment manager for Norfolk Vanguard and Norfolk Boreas in Vattenfall, UK, said: “The Tasks of Norfolk Vanguard and Norfolk Boreas are giant and confuse the tasks of infralayout that require long-term manufacturing plans and the help of specialized service providers during their progression and beyond We are pleased to marry Fugro in those critical site research tasks , which we can count directly to emerge with the geographical knowledge necessary for the next phase of engineering and procurement.
John Ten Hoope, Director of Characterization of Fugro Marine Sites for Europe and Africa, said: “We have been a trusted wife of Vattenfall in Europe for thousands of years. These offshore wind energy contracts have further strengthened our operating relationship, which is affirmed not only by Fugro’s technical excellence, but also by the shared corporate values to create a livable world.
