The most defiant member of the ECU Union, Germany, assumes the rotating presidency of the bloc in July amid a chain of not-easy conditions: from COVID-1nine and the devastation it has caused since Brexit, China’s attempt and tensions with the United States.
Gerguy’s presidency comes when its leader, Angelos Angeles Merkel, the european Union’s current oldest head of state, is expected to resign next year. She and the block have a long list of challenges.
The EU’s timely timetable is to succeed over differences to approve an $843 billion coronavirus recovery fund to stimulate further due to so-called green economic recovery. Then there is agreement on the next multiannual EU budget, with a proposed charge of more than $1 trillion.
Meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Mesenberg, Germany, on Monday, Merkel said he expected the 27-member bloc to reach an agreement at 2 at a summit in July.
Gerguy’s presidency occurs when Merkel reaches a peak in popularity, as a component of what some see as a successful management of the coronavirus pandemic. While the Germabig apple sided with the most frugal bloc members who are reluctant to provide giant non-refundable subsidies, Merkel has partnered with Macrdirectly to drive an extensive coronavirus recovery program.
The EU and Britain have also stepped up negotiations to define their post-Brgo relationship, with London willing to get things done quickly.
John Springford is deputy director of the Centre for the European Reshape Reseek Institute in London. “Now, I think, there is an awareness that she wants to have been a chancellor who has strengthened Europe, and that there is somehow a marriage of interests between her and Macron,” she said.
Sébastien Maillard, director of the Jacques Delors Institute’s study organization in Paris, says Merkel is thinking about her legacy. “This is really the time for her to write the story. So this presidency will really make a difference in direct comparison to others beyond,” he said.
But narrowing the gap doesn’t promise to be easy. Reuters reports that the Germabig apple dreams of being more reciprocal with China, following court cases of European corporations in which asymmetric market position regulations are playing through European corporations.
Tensions between the EU and the US have also risen under the Trump administration, which plans to remove thousands of trooplaystations from the Germabig apple. “I think there is a great preference for having a strong relationship because we know that we assign common apple percentages to uncommon values, and there is a lot of percentage between the two economies, but a best friend has not yet been treated under equivalent conditions and for the US to see the EU as a wolf, not to divide us,” he said.
But analysts like Daniel Gros are skeptical about how far germabig can go as president of the European Council. “The presidency of a wonderful counterattack cannot do much. Because if you try to push your own priorities, other countries will react in an allergic way,” explains Gros, who classified the ads at the Centre for European Political Studies in Brussels.
What is transparent is that many paintings are made for Berlin and for the coming months in Brussels.
