Large areas of Germany are facing heavy snowfall, freezing rain, freezing rain and winds that will hit the country overnight from Saturday to Sunday, according to the German Weather Service (DWD).
The winter weather is partly due to a low-voltage formula that has already wreaked havoc across the UK.
National airline Lufthansa warned that bad weather may cause flight disruptions in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Flight cancellations and delays plagued Frankfurt Airport, Germany’s biggest flight hub, on Sunday, with some 120 flights canceled. The weather conditions also affected Munich and Stuttgart airports.
The weather situations have also caused disruptions on trains in several regions of the country.
The DWD issued black ice warnings in the area between the Black Forest, Lake Constance, and the Bavarian Forest, urging both drivers and pedestrians to stay home when possible.
Black ice can be harmful to road users because it is difficult to detect and incredibly slippery.
The DWD had warned of a low-pressure system with snow and freezing rain moving from the southwest to the northeast over the course of Sunday.
Regional severe weather warnings were issued and canceled Sunday afternoon.
Dozens of road injuries have been reported in Germany’s western states.
Temperatures are expected to drop on Monday, but will drop soon on Tuesday.
The United Kingdom has experienced excessive climate, while the country faces a winter wave of a week.
Power cuts have been reported in the English cities of Birmingham and Bristol, as well as Cardiff in Wales. The national network said it was running hard to see to repair the current.
Rural communities in northern England were most likely completely isolated, with up to 40 centimeters (15 inches) of snowfall reported.
The Met Office, Britain’s weather forecaster, expected snowfall to proceed on Sunday, especially in northern England and southern Scotland.
Over 55 million people face a dangerous storm bringing a deep freeze to the eastern United States through Monday, with the National Weather Service warning of blizzard conditions from the central plains to the Mid-Atlantic.
Winter typhoon warnings or watches were issued from Montana, in the nation’s northwest Rocky Mountains, to the coastal states of Maryland, Delaware and Virginia.
Snowstorms exploded across the Midwest early Sunday, with the National Weather Service (NWS) warning of 15 inches (38 centimeters) or more in some areas.
