Vice President Kamala Harris tied with former President Donald Trump in early election odds for the first time on Thursday, according to Polymarket, as polls show Harris is gaining ground in key states and other sites put her well ahead of Trump.
Polymarket showed Harris and Trump tied Thursday morning for the first time since Harris filed her presidential campaign; since then, Trump has regained a narrow lead.
Polymarket allows bettors to buy shares for the candidate they think will win, giving them the option to cash out if those shares increase in price or wait for election effects to get a potentially larger payout.
As of Thursday morning, Trump had a narrow lead, 50 cents, to Harris’ 48. 9 cents, and independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. , with 0. 4 cents.

Harris took her first lead over Trump on rival betting platform Predictit last week and has since built a sizable lead over Trump there. Like Polymarket, bettors who bet on Predictit candidates get financial values for each option ranging from 1 to 99 cents (Harris was trading at 56 cents to Trump’s 47 cents on Thursday, and Kennedy was trading at 2 cents).
Less than a month after announcing her candidacy, Harris surged up the ballot against the former president, regaining lost ground after ballots showed Biden trailing Trump following his disastrous debate performance in June. An NPR/PBS News/Marist poll released this week shows her leading Trump 48% to 45% (margin of error 3. 3 points), while a Morning Consult poll shows her with a lead of between 48% and 44% (margin of error of 1 point). Harris also narrowed Trump’s lead in key battleground states with just under two months until the election; Morning Consult’s ballot shows Harris leading Trump in Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona and NevadaArray, although other ballots imply the race in those states remains tied. -above. A Fox News ballot released last week found Trump and Harris tied in Michigan and Pennsylvania, with Trump ahead by one point in Wisconsin and two points in Georgia.
