Foxworthy is all about having a smart moment when it comes to entertaining. The multiple Grammy nominee is hailed as the best-selling comedy recording artist in history, as well as the best-selling of more than 26 books. In 2014, Foxworthy was also inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.
The star spoke to Fox News about the culture of cancellation in today’s comedy world, the word “redneck” has replaced him over the years, as well as his favorite collectible treasures.

THE STAR “LET IT BE BEAVER” HUGH BEAUMONT WAS MUCH LIKE A FAMILY MAN ON SCREEN, SAYS HIS DAUGHTER
Fox News: As an actor, what do you think of the culture of cancellation in today’s comedy world? Jeff Foxworthy: … I’m talking to my funny friends about it. It’s like last 80 or 90, if I wrote a routine, I might say, well, men do this and women do it. And then you’d ask a guy or a woguy to say, “Well, I’m not doing that.” And you know, my component is like, “I know it’s a joke.” You know, play. But I started writing, I do this, my wife does this. But we’ve reached the point where no one has a sense of humor about it.
And I think we’re all messy. We all make mistakes. And, in fact, I got to the point where I said, when I went on stage, that just before I left, everyone is going through a fight, everyone. It can be financial, physical, emotional … So I’m funny about other people because you don’t know what they’re going through.
And I don’t think laughter will make the fight happen, but laughter is like the discharge valve that prevents the boiler from exploding. So let’s be informed to laugh at ourselves. When others make a mistake, be funny with them, when we make a mistake, we hope that other people will give us grace in return. And I’d like to see us get back to that.

THE OLD “DANCING WITH THE STARS”, TOM BERGERON IS “CONFIDENT”, WILL RETURN AFTER BEING LEFT: REPORT
Fox News: Has the meaning of the word “redneck” replaced you over the years since you started acting? Foxworthy: Well, I was making those jokes, like when I started, and it was in reaction to the other people who called me that. I sense it I grew up in the country. I’m hunting bow, I’m fishing, I drive a van and they say, “Oh, Jeff, you just got back from Georgia.”
What I discovered when I traveled the country is that it’s not just about Georgia. You have 20 minutes outdoors in any city, and the other people were pretty much the same. But even as I wrote them, I made them think of an excellent lack of sophistication. And that’s why I’ve never felt it as unpleasant or negative. For me, it was more: “Hey, here’s someone who comes from the country and loves this lifestyle.”
Fox News: As a non-public collector, what made you need to worry about “What’s worth?” Foxworthy: I love the concept because I like all kinds of things. I love old tools. Forever, he’d take baseballs if I did the Tonight Show or if I hosted an award ceremony, and I’d ask other people to point baseballs. So I have a very eclectic collection of Array. I have baseballs pointed out through presidents, country music artists and comedians. I love looking for arrowheads and Native American artifacts because I’m on the road.

ART GARFUNKEL’S PAL SAYS THE SINGER HELPED HIM OVERCOME DESPAIR AFTER BLIND: “HE THREW ME OUT OF THE GRAVE”
There’s something to do while you’re on the road, but I had things I was going to say, “Does it have any value? Or do I get rid of that, wait?” What we found is that when the pandemic started, other people were doing projects they had never had time to do. They cleaned their attics, cleaned their garages and did the same. They were locating things and thinking, “Am I getting rid of this? Shall I put it on a garage sale? Or is it beautiful?”
Fox News: What is it practically like to film this show? Foxworthy: I’m a little pessimistic that I would paint practically entering someone’s space and letting them film with their phone and everything… That’s unbelievable. It was a lot of fun to go to people’s houses to see how they live, to see where they kept those things, that in the most case they were in the sock drawer or under the bed.
And I laughed in the sock drawer. I’m like the first day of the robber school, they have to tell you to check the sock drawer, yet that’s where other people hit things. And in many cases, I was surprised by the price of some of those things. I mean, thousands, 10, 000 in one case, that’s part of the million dollars someone had sitting in their house, and they had no idea what it was worth.

CANDACE CAMERON BURE, STAR FULLER HOUSE, TALKS ABOUT BEING A CHRISTIAN IN HOLLYWOOD: “THE BIBLE FOR ME IS THE TRUTH”
Fox News: Has there ever been anything that made you say, “Maybe I’m offering this user money for this?” My children grew up and we just moved from big space to small space, so my wife would probably have strangled me if I had brought something else here.
But we had moments like, a couple, they had a newspaper that pronounced Lincoln’s murder, and they were looking for him to be evaluated. And while I’m talking to them, they have their cell phones. Behind them, on the wall, is a two-headed calf fixed on taxidermists, who found no stranger. And in the corner, there was an open coffin with a skeleton. And I say, “To say the fact with the paper, where do you get something like that?”
Fox News: What would you like to upload to your collection if you had the chance, if your wife would allow it? Foxworthy:… I’m fascinated by Native Americans … I just appreciate how they took care of the land and how they could. In North Carolina, I discovered a stone pipe. It was a pipe, but it wasn’t made of steel or clay. Someone had carved it in stone, and it’s beautiful. So, I guess I just enjoyed the thrill of locating those things, then looking for them and finding out what they did with them.

I hope I can stay for things like that. I mean, it’s a smart way to social distance because you know, I’m going to walk 25,000 steps a day in a box rada next to a creek. Then, who knows, maybe I’ll get lucky and find anything else.
Fox News: What’s the key recommendation you’d give to someone who thinks they have something of value, but doesn’t know where to start? Foxworthy: Well, I’d say touch us. People have started doing it now. Don’t replace what you’ve got. As in one case, someone had discovered something old that was made of fabric, and they thought, well, let me wash it.
Well, then we knew he took away his courage. So leave it in the state it is in and touch us. And we’d love to come into your space practically and call experts who know everything and tell you what it’s worth.
