North Korea’s estimated gross national income (per capita) source in 2023, based on Bank of Korea estimates.
If knowledge gathered through the United Nations and other agencies is accurate, North Korea has seen a slight increase in GDP. In 2023, North Korea’s GDP grew by 3%, after 3 consecutive years of decline. Exports increased by more than 104% and imports by up to 71%. On paper, the scenario looks good, apart from the balance of the industry, but the infrastructure, living conditions and government assistance to its citizens are deteriorating; Many other people starve, are tortured and even trafficked. These situations have been happening for decades.
It is difficult to specify how North Korea develops the industry because the government does publish information. China is North Korea’s main trading partner, whose main imports are ferrous or iron-based alloys.
North Korea manufactures and sells weapons and military apparatus and exports metals, coal, seafood, timber, textiles, electricity, silk and agricultural products.
