National savings and investment premium bonds are one of the most popular savings products in the country, however, how do you verify the premium obligations that may have been forgotten and how do you do it at prices that are not careful?
Premium Bonds will always be valid until they are cashed in, so even if you think you may have some from decades ago, it is well worth trying to track them down.
To track down lost Premium Bonds, visit nsandi.com/forms and look for the ‘Form to track down lost savings’. You can complete this form online or download and print a copy to complete by hand.
Subscribe to MoneyWeek today and get your first six magazine issues absolutely FREE
If doing the latter, send your completed form to: Tracing service, NS&I, Sunderland SR43 2SB
Once completed, NS&I will be in contact and tell you whether you have any lost Premium Bonds.
Alternatively, you can use mylostaccount.org.uk. This is a free service from UK Finance and the Building Societies Association that helps you track down lost accounts or savings. The service is not only for NS&I products, so it may be worth a visit if you have other lost accounts.
If you’re trying to track down Premium Bonds on behalf of someone else, then make sure you are legally entitled to act on their behalf, for example under a Power of Attorney or as an Executor. NS&I say to call them for advice on how to trace someone else’s accounts or investments.
Premium Bonds can still be owned by people who live abroad so it is still worth checking whether you have any unclaimed prizes or lost Premium Bonds even if you have left the UK.
If you want more or advice, Ns and I have a useful contact list that can guide it in the right direction.
There are a number of ways to check for prizes – both online and by post.
Website or ns & i
The simplest way is through the NSANDI. com awards controller or the official application verifiers application, which will be obtained in Android or iOS. Banto of these strategies will show you the awards to offer this month and any gain that I would have had in the last six draws, as well as any prize not claimed.
You will want the owner number of your premium obligations to use the online page and its NS & I or the holder number to verify the verification application worthwhile: it is nine or 10 digits or 8 digits followed by a letter.
If you don’t have your number of premium bonuses to be delivered, don’t worry. You can use your NS number
Use your Alexa
You can also use your Alexa-End device to verify if you have won, provided you have a compatible device and have successfully configured it. Once the order is made, Alexa will be to tell him if he has won an award and how much it is worth, as well as main points for any next raffle.
To install it, you will want to allow NS’s skills
As there is no time limit for investors to claim prizes from Premium Bonds, you may find that you have some long-forgotten rewards left from years ago.
In January 2025, NS&I said there are 2,498,733 prizes worth £92,343,925 still to be claimed. More than 8,000 of these are valued over £500.
Beyond using NS and I’s website, app, or Alexa to pricing, there are other tactics to know if you have cash waiting to be claimed.
If you’re registered for online or phone services, you can call NS&I for free on 08085 007 007.
If you are not registered, you can write in NS & I and ask if you have single costs. To help them locate all the prospective costs for you, your letter should include:
Send your letter to: ns
Then any award will be sent to your home: they will be sent directly to your bank account.
