Having launched several websites for my own businesses over the years, I’ve spent hundreds of hours getting hands on with some of the best small business website builders on the market.
Now I have created this guide to the top website building platforms with small businesses in mind. Only platforms that are easy to use, come with plenty of useful tools and features, and provide excellent value for money have earned a spot.
Between me and our team of experts, we’ve spent thousands of hours testing and reviewing over 140 of the most productive online page builders and hosting providers. In this guide, I’ve settled on 7 of the most productive online small business page builders and distilled everything you want to know about them into easy-to-digest bites.
Wix tops my list as the most productive builder for small businesses, with a diversity of rugged (yet easy-to-use) equipment and features. With plans starting at $17 per month, it’s not the cheapest option, but with everything you need to build a great small business, it offers great value for money.
Owain has been leading on all website builder content at TechRadar for over a year. With a background in business and marketing, he has spent 7+ years testing website builders, building his own small business websites, and writing about small business and marketing topics.
Are you looking for all the information, but don’t need to read the entire guide? In this section, I’ve indexed my top three small business online page builders and looked at what they offer to earn a top spot.

January 14, 2025: I consulted the consultant to make sure all the data remained accurate, which led to some small adjustments across the board. I also reassigned two of the online page developers to new categories so that readers would find the most productive option given their unique needs.
Our opinion:
Wix has introduced a new tool that allows online page owners to temporarily create visual sitemaps and wireframes with AI, particularly speeding up the online page building process. > Learn more about this new update here. Wix recently introduced a set of new AI-powered teams designed to let users produce more and better blog content. Wix is one of the most comprehensive website builders we’ve encountered, and this is no different when it comes to small business websites. With a wide range of features, it’s no wonder Wix is the go-to platform for over 200 million registered users.
Tools and features
The Wix editor works on an undeniable drag-and-drop principle, providing plenty of interesting layout options and customization tools. It also includes features such as a symbol editor, animations, video backgrounds, and first-party and third-party applications.
Wix also recently introduced its fully AI-powered builder, which is helping small businesses create ads in record time. Start by answering some undeniable questions about your business. The AI tool then uses the data you provide to create a matrix complete with photos and text. Once you’ve reviewed your generated site, you can use the Wix Website Editor to make any required tweaks and adjustments.
Even making the necessary adjustments, I found that the AI online page builder particularly sped up the online page creation process, making it ideal for time-poor small businesses looking to create a quality online page with little investment. of time. Additionally, as Wix’s AI-powered online page builder creates a custom option, it is helping to overcome the issues of limited template customization in Wix. Wix Studio is another new addition to the Wix platform and gives users access to complex tools for designing websites and working with clients. It is absolutely free for all Wix users, making it one of the most productive online agency page builders.
Finally, small businesses can take advantage of additional equipment like Wix Turbo, Wix Bookings, Wix Restaurants, and Wix Hotels. This makes it ideal for businesses that need undeniable yet rugged equipment for their business operations.
I created several Wix small business websites and found the procedure to be very undeniable. The websites were undeniable to create, they looked great and were very undeniable to manage once online.
Alternatives
If you don’t want all the complex equipment that Wix offers, you can save a small amount of money by opting for Weebly. Paid plans start at $10 a month, and while they’re not as complex as Wix, Weebly still gives you a host of features and rugged equipment for online page building.
You can read our Wix vs Weebly comparison to be more informed.
Alternatively, if you are looking for a complex online page builder with artificial intelligence, but are convinced by Wix’s price, you may want to check out Hostinger. We’ve covered a full comparison of the two in our Wix AI vs Hostinger AI guide.
Packages & Pricing
With the free edition, you’ll get a basic service with limited bandwidth and storage (500MB) and you’ll have to put up with ads on your website.
Opting for any of the paid plans – such as the Lite package at $17 per month (with a yearly subscription) – will get you a custom domain (free for the first year), 2GB storage, removal of Wix ads and much more. However, if you want to sell online and unlock features such as advanced analytics, you’ll need to go for the Core plan or above, starting at $29/mo.
There’s also a 14-day money-back guarantee if things don’t go well.
My verdict
I used Wix to create several of my own small business websites and found it to be very simple. The AI website builder is impressive and lightning-fast; Personally, I prefer to find a template that I can then adapt exactly to what I need using the editing tools.
Wix is wonderful for small businesses because of all the additional easy-to-use tools, like the undeniable eCommerce and search engine optimization features. I recently created an online page to accept reservations on Wix and found the visitor to be incredibly patient and helpful when looking for the formula to work exactly as I wanted it.

Our expert review:
Weebly is a great option small businesses that want a very simple website or online store, so it’s ideal for startups, entrepreneurs or businesses that don’t conduct their business solely online.
Tools and features
Weebly earned top marks in our review for its easy-to-use drag-and-drop editor, attractive online page templates, and small business-friendly features like its app library and third-party integrations (eCommerce, social media, marketing, visitors, and more).
It wasn’t all good news (there are no blog templates, for example, so you have to design your own), but there were no critical issues, and overall, Weebly is a sturdy, multipurpose builder for new users.
I found that while Weebly doesn’t have some complex features found on other platforms, such as AI teams and a wide diversity of templates, unless you want those extras, its affordability and ease of use make it a wonderful option. for others on this list.
Alternatives
If you want more advanced tools and more advanced customization options, Wix is well worth considering, although it will cost you a little more. You can read our full Wix vs Weebly review to learn more.
Likewise, if you want more complex ecommerce tools, a specialized ecommerce platform like Shopify will probably better suit your desires. Alternatively, you might want to explore Square Online, an online page builder owned by the same company as Weebly. This option offers more complex ecommerce features than Weebly, but at a similar price. Read our Square Online review to learn more. Packages and prices
A flexible plan makes it easy to try the service yourself, Weebly-branded ads, the inability to attach a traditional domain, and a minimum storage of 500 MB make it less suitable for long-term advertising use.
Opting for the Personal plan ($10/mo on the annual plan) lifts some of these limits, allowing you to connect a custom domain and sell digital goods.
Upgrading to the Professional plan ($12/mo on the annual plan) offers much more, getting you access to a free domain, SEO tools, advanced site stats, phone customer service, and support for a web store with unlimited items. If this isn’t enough, the powerful Business plan at $26/mo adds more high-end features like abandoned basket emails, item reviews, PayPal payments, and more.
My verdict
The Weebly website builder is known for being one of the easiest to use website building platforms on the market. I often recommend this option to small business owners who are time-poor but want to get a professional website built without too much of an investment.
However, Weebly might not be the best option for you if you are looking to create a more complex website.

Our opinion:
Shopify is arguably one of the best ecommerce platforms on the market. Although it is widely used by business behemoths including Tesla, Gymshark, and PepsiCo, it also offers fantastic options for small businesses that want to set up, manage, and grow an online store.
Tools and features
The platform includes an intuitive website builder that makes building a site a breeze. Shopify’s website builder is the perfect choice for someone who is looking to start their online store, thanks to the huge range of ecommerce features that Shopify brings to the table.
These include advanced ecommerce tools that can be used to create a beautifully branded storefront and to manage products, inventory, payments, and shipping. Plus, you can integrate it with various marketplaces to further grow your business including Amazon, eBay, and even social media platforms, all making it a great option for omnichannel selling.
During testing, I found Shopify’s dashboard to be clean and straightforward. It has a central platform for order tracking, visitor management, analytics, and more. In addition to this, the analytics suite provides detailed insights into visitor behavior, sales trends, and online page performance.
It even offers a wide variety of customizable responsive themes through a visual editor, where you can easily adjust layouts, fonts, colors, and other design elements without writing a single line of code. However, if you love coding and need to further customize your theme, Shopify provides the site’s JavaScript, CSS, and HTML, giving you carte blanche to customize it.
You don’t get any calls or emails with any of Shopify’s paid plans. However, live chat visitors are available 24/7 on the platform. I tried to reach out to the team to answer some of my questions and they responded pretty quickly, which was awesome. So, if you need to create an online store and are looking for a one-stop solution, I’m sure Shopify may be the right choice for you.
Alternatives
While it’s not a committed ecommerce platform like Shopify, Wix offers many complex ecommerce features and, with plans starting at $12 a month, it’s much more affordable. However, if you really want all the extra equipment that comes with an eCommerce platform, you might want one of the top eCommerce platforms, like WooCommerce or BigCommerce. Our Magento, WooCommerce, BigCommerce and Shopify advisor will help you decide which option is most productive for you.
Although included in this guide, Square Online is a great choice for eCommerce stores, offering plenty of specialized eCommerce teams but at a lower price than other Shopify options. Packages and values
You can use Shopify’s online page builder as well as its other eCommerce features with a 3-day free trial, which is far from the most beneficial free trial. However, you can also use the platform for a full month for just $1, giving you enough time to create your site and check out the platform’s features.
After that, you’ll have to purchase a plan to continue using it. It has three different plans to choose from. The “Basic” plan is currently priced at $29/ month (yearly payment), the “Shopify” plan comes at $79/ month (yearly payment) where you get 5 additional staff accounts, and its “Advanced” plan costs $299/ month (yearly payment), offering 15 additional staff accounts.
My verdict
Having used Shopify to create and run a small online home goods store in the past, I can verify that it is a wonderful builder for small businesses.
Although the platform comes with plenty of advanced tools, the initial set up and basic tools are incredibly simple to use. If you want to gamify your online sales, I recommend turning on sales notifications on the app. The “cha-ching” cash register sound is the ultimate dopamine hit and gets a little addictive!

Hostinger continues to make impressive updates to its builder and recently announced four new tools. All of this helps what you create with Hostinger not only look contemporary, but also work perfectly on all devices.
During my testing, I was amazed by Hostinger’s AI site builder, which creates an entire online page by simply asking you a couple of questions about who you are and what type of online page you’re looking to create. Not only is it very easy, but it makes Hostinger one of the fastest online website builders on the market.
Hostinger claims that it takes an average of just 28 minutes and 46 seconds to build a website with its AI site builder.
Even without the complex AI tools, you can configure manually without any hassle with its drag and drop editor. Plus, you can further customize your templates without writing a single line of code, making it ideal for beginners.
Alternatives
If you prefer to talk to an actual person when facing website issues you may want to opt for an alternative such as Weebly, although even in this case phone support is only available on the platform’s more expensive plans.
Packages & Pricing
When it comes to pricing, Hostinger leaves most of its peers with the cheapest rates. You can purchase their Premium Website Builder plan with the intuitive online page builder for just $2. 49/month if you purchase it for four years. , you get a free domain, an AI-powered online page builder, marketing integrations, and much more.
However, if you want to create an online store, you will need to opt for the “Business Website Builder” which costs $3. 99 per month (on a 4-year plan). In this, you get all the features provided in the “Premium Website Builder”, along with various eCommerce features, 20+ payment methods, AI tools, and more.
Overall, Hostinger offers a wonderful online page builder for those who need to create an online page quickly, cheaply and without much effort.
My verdict
Hostinger is a hot contender when it comes to the best small business website builder. Offering many similar tools to Wix, including a powerful AI website builder, the platform is built with the non-tech-savvy in mind and is super easy to use.
It’s also very affordable, making it an attractive option for cash-savvy small businesses.

In September 2024 Squarespace announced Squarespace Refresh, seeing 14+ new and updated tools and features launched across the website building platform. These include improved functionality across areas including design, invoicing, content, and marketing, with a strong theme for AI integration across the board. > Read our full interview with Squarespace about its latest updates> Learn more about Squarespace Refresh 2024
Squarespace is one of the most well-known developers, and for good reason. With all the must-have construction equipment and some of the most attractive templates on the market, this is a wonderful option for small businesses that need to make a big impact.
Tools and features
The drag-and-drop editor is exceptionally easy to master, letting you customize each element of your website. It might appear a little basic, but don’t worry: Squarespace’s huge selection of beautiful templates are so stylish that you may well not want to make any changes at all (although even if you do, there are plenty of opportunities for tweaks and fine-tuning.)
In fact, during my testing I found Squarespace to offer some of the most visually appealing templates available. This makes it ideal for small businesses that value brand aesthetics.
You can also take advantage of Squarespace Blueprint AI, the platform’s comprehensive AI builder. By answering just five design questions about your structure, color palette, fonts, and layout preferences, Squarespace’s AI will create a traditional site tailored to your answers.
Alternatives
If you’re looking for similar online page builders and add one of the most productive AI online page builders, Wix’s offering is a great option and it’s a little less expensive to get started. For a full comparison, you can check out our Wix vs Squarespace guide.
Alternatively, for a complex ecommerce website, Shopify offers a much wider variety of ecommerce tools than Squarespace. Pricing and Plans All users can take advantage of the 14-day free trial before deciding which Squarespace pricing plan is right for them. This is ideal for small businesses that need to make the right investment.
Unlike some competitors, Squarespace doesn’t offer a flexible plan; However, at $16 a month, its cheapest plan is more than generous, making it a very competitive online page builder for small businesses. You’ll have access to unlimited garage and bandwidth, SSL certificate, search engine optimization features, symbol/video galleries, smart symbol optimization, professional online store, CDN support to improve plugin performance, free fonts, a free domain for one year, and much more. more.
However, this package does not come with an online store. If that’s what you’re looking for, want the Business plan at $23/month (billed annually) or one of the Business plans starting at $27/month.
my verdict
Squarespace is well known for offering some of the most amazing templates on the market. However, they will offer much more than that. With a powerful AI-powered online page builder and intuitive small business equipment such as e-commerce features and a committed booking system, Squarespace is a good choice for small businesses as a comprehensive website building tool.

Our expert review:
HubSpot helps businesses grow by connecting marketing, sales, content marketing, and visitor service. But the most sensible thing is that it also comes with a builder that can do a lot of things.
Tools and features
With a What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get (WYSIWYG) editor, its website builder comes with a versatile range of templates, all of which are mobile-responsive and designed with conversion optimization in mind. Whether you’re building a landing page, blog, or full-fledged business site, HubSpot provides a foundation that not only looks professional but is also tailored to meet specific business goals.
After testing the platform, I discovered one area where HubSpot shines: seamless integration with its popular CRM and marketing automation tools. If you are already using their CRM, the online page builder becomes the best extension to nurture leads and track online page behavior. and create personalized experiences. Plus, it comes with built-in search engine optimization features, intuitive blogging tools, and tough conversion elements like smart content and A/B testing capabilities.
Although HubSpot does let you do customizations with your website, it doesn’t match the detailed control present in other dedicated website builders like Hostinger or Shopify. Instead, its focus leans more heavily towards using pre-built modules and sections, which can be slightly restrictive for someone who wants to build a super customized website.
Alternatives
HubSpot offers a lot with its free plan, but if you’re more, the basic premium plans are expensive. Weebly is a cheaper and easier-to-use alternative, with premium plans starting at just $10 a month.
Plans and pricing
HubSpot’s website builder is totally free and can be used by signing up for the ‘Free Tools’ plan or above. This offers small businesses a great opportunity to get a website builder alongside other free marketing, sales, CMS, service, and commerce tools all in one place.
Another advantage of HubSpot’s free builder is that it allows you to attach a traditional domain to your site, something most free developers don’t let you do.
However, if you want to increase the number and functionality of tools, you’ll need to opt for a paid plan for individuals/small businesses which start at $18/mo (paid annually) and range up to $800/mo (paid annually).
My verdict
HubSpot offers a pretty impressive build package, especially since it’s free.
However, by opting for the HubSpot website builder you may find yourself tied into the company’s larger ecosystem of products. This isn’t a bad thing, after all, many of the HubSpot products are great, but it can also get expensive as your needs grow.

My verdict
GoDaddy has been a champion of small businesses for many years. Although its website builder features have previously been known for being a little simplistic, recent updates have made it a worthy contender, especially in the small business space.

Choosing the right online page builder for your small business can be tricky, especially when there are so many wonderful features available. Below, I have indexed some of the maximum vital points when opting for an online page builder, comparing each of the page builders on this list.
The most productive online page builder for small businesses will depend on your exact virtual needs, but there are a few key site-building features that everyone considers.
Ease of use
Ease of use is vital for all grades of users, but it has many ingredients. It’s best to offer quality templates to help you get started right away, a drag-and-drop editor, and a deep knowledge base with clear explanations on how to create and run your site.
Design capabilities
Different developers will offer other approaches to design. What works for you will depend on your confidence in the design and the time you have.
For example, some developers offer a drag-and-drop technique for building, allowing you to customize your site based on a series of pre-designed sections and pages. Others offer complete templates that can be changed to meet your needs. There are also several AI developers who use the data you provide to create something custom in seconds.
Of course, many website builders offer a combination of all three of these approaches.
Marketing tools
Marketing tools help you engage your audience, bring more visitors to your website, and generate more sales. When looking for a website builder, look at which type of marketing tools they have on offer.
This may include email tools to help you design and send powerful marketing emails to SEO tools that help you rank your website higher on search engine result pages. Some of these may be built into the platform, or be included as an optional integration.
Integrations
Business integrations allow complex users to link their internet sites to all kinds of business services. Common features include Google or Facebook analytics to track your visitors, Mailchimp for email marketing, or Social Stream to demonstrate social media feeds on your site.
Check each website builder to see which integrations are on offer. Having these bundled into your website builder package can save you money (if you were going to pay for them anyway).
Ecommerce features
Ecommerce features are vital if you’re hoping to sell online, but these vary hugely between website builders and plans. Make sure your preferred provider can handle the number of products you want to sell, and includes the payment, shipping and other tools you need.
Additional costs
It is also important to pay close attention to additional fees. For example, some website builders may offer ecommerce functionality on their cheaper plans, but charge a transaction fee on each sale. This can eat away at profits overtime, so is especially important for small businesses to consider.
Safety
Website security is overlooked, but it is still a must-have attention when opting for an online page builder. Therefore, it is vital to take the time to study the security point presented through your online page builder.
Greater levels of security can help build authority and trust with your website visitors and protect your business from potential attacks.
Awards
Pricing is important, but be careful when you’re making comparisons. Some providers may offer good-looking deals, but only if you sign up for years, and sometimes costs soar on renewal. Read the small print carefully to be sure you understand what you’re getting before signing up.

Picking the right website builder for your small business is no easy task. In this guide I have helped you get to grips with the best options on the market and offered you insight into the tools and features which could help you build your perfect website.
Wix offers a wonderful option for those looking for a flexible tool. However, if you’re looking for something specific, like complex e-commerce teams or aesthetic design, other features like Shopify or Squarespace would likely be better for you.
Fortunately, most of the developers I cover in this consultant come with a free plan, a free trial, or a money-back guarantee, giving you a risk-free way to try them out and see which one works for you.
All businesses can benefit from a website. Why? Because a website can help potential new customers find your business online, act as an extension of your brand, and provide a central location where visitors can find all the information they may need such as where you are located, what you offer, and how they can buy your products and services.
Many small businesses can also use their to sell directly to their customers, opening up a whole new profit stream.
Here are some key questions when deciding whether to create your own website or hire an Internet designer: 1. What’s your budget?
Using a website builder will often be much cheaper than working with a web designer or agency. After all, you’ll pay for the time, expertise, and expertise that the designer brings to the table.
Ongoing pricing will also need to be considered. Designers and agencies typically charge an ongoing charge for maintenance, as well as a flat fee or hourly rate for any upgrades you want to make. On the other hand, developers of online pages offer a more predictable price. and a more affordable monthly fee.
All things considered, if your budget is relatively low, a website builder is likely to be a better choice.
2. How much time do you have?
For busy small business owners, time can be a luxury. This is where working with a designer can be interesting. While you need to work with a designer to express the desires and vision of your website, he can perfectly paint the scenes as you walk through his site. day-to-day responsibilities.
Website builders, while easy to use, will take longer to fix issues and make your online page work exactly the way you want. However, with new AI machines that can automate everything from design to content writing, the time you want to spend building your online page is getting shorter and shorter.
3. What are the features of your website?
What you need to get your page online will help you determine whether an online page builder or designer is the best option for you.
For example, the ones for a undeniable online shop or a position to host data about their business will most probably only want the features presented through a online page construction platform. However, the ones for more complex features, for example an immersive buying groceries revel in or bespoke design elements, would possibly want to paintings with a designer to in attaining this.
As website builders evolve, the gap between what they offer and what designers can achieve is getting smaller. So, even if you think you need something advanced for your website, it is worth checking whether it can be achieved via using a website builder before opting to hire a professional designer.
Although creative businesses could use any website builder I have listed on this page, they also typically have unique needs that can be better met by specific or dedicated website builders. For example, Squarespace is widely considered as one of the best website builders for photographers due to its beautiful templates and advanced image tools. Similarly, BandZoogle is a website builder dedicated to helping bands and musicians promote their talents and is viewed as one of the best website builders for musicians.
While you definitely want hosting to publish your page online, all of the online page developers included in this consultant are popular with a hosting level. You may want to upgrade your hosting as your online page grows and you want your online page to perform better across the board. However, not all platforms allow you to do this. I propose to check the hosting value of your online page builder and if it is possible to upgrade it before making a decision.
The answer to the question “What is a constructor?” » is simple. A builder is a tool that allows you to create without any coding experience.
Typically, you start by browsing a library of pre-designed online page layouts, commonly called “templates. ” A template can include common pages like About, Services, and Contact, for example, with modern inventory photos that you can use right away.
Then, use an editor to load new pages and customize any content that fits your needs. Inserting your own text can be as undeniable as clicking on a domain and starting to type, and periodically you can upload new types of content (forms, cards, videos, etc. ) by dragging and dropping.
Estimating the time it might take to build your site is difficult, because it depends on so many factors: the website builder, its editor, the available templates, the features you’re aiming to include, and more.
If your desires are undeniable and you still have the copy and main images, perhaps from an existing website, you may have something you can post in two or three hours.
When you see what the most productive small business developers have to offer, you can expand the site with more features: maps, product videos, stencils, whatever suits you best. While those elements are easy to add, you may only spend an hour or two learning how to produce the most productive effects for an express feature.
Online outlets are the most time-consuming, spanning weeks or even months. Most of this has to do with creating a product catalog, classifying payment methods, shipping, etc. ; The most productive small business online page developers can still create a major up-and-running store in just a day or two.
Yes, it is imaginable to create an online page for free, but sometimes this is not suitable for small businesses.
Even the best free website builders typically have fewer features, for instance, more restrictions, as well as loads of ads, and no option to use your own domain. That could create such an unprofessional impression with potential customers that you’d be better off having no website at all.
However, don’t completely rule out loose levels. Wix offers a flexible plan and while it’s not a paid plan solution, it’s a wonderful way to check before you buy and see if the service is right for you.
Most small business developers come with one-page templates, where users can find everything they want (product and service information, photos, pricing, testimonials, and key points) by simply scrolling down a single page.
If your website needs are simple, or you can find templates covering your precise business type – wedding photography, say – then this as simple as website building gets. Just scroll down the template, replace the company name, product images, addresses, contact details and so on with your own, and you’ll immediately have a polished and professional site.
If your business isn’t compatible with a popular business niche, a single-page solution may not be right for you. Fortunately, this is not a problem. Website templates are just a starting point, and if something goes wrong, you can rearrange sections, load pages, or do whatever it takes to create your ideal business.
