PHOENIX – Iconic guitar maker Fender Musical Instruments Corp. plans to move its headquarters from Scottsdale to the former Paradise Valley Mall, northeast of Phoenix.
Fender will occupy a three-story, 80,000-square-foot construction in the new mixed-use photovoltaic progression near Cactus Road and Tatum Boulevard, RED Development announced Tuesday.
Construction is expected to begin later this year and Fender is expected to begin operations there in the fall of 2025.
Real estate consulting firm Cresa represented Fender in its lawsuit and will oversee the process. Brokerage firm JLL represented RED Development in connection with this transaction.
SmithGroup designed the new construction with collaboration in mind. The facility will feature a committed style workshop for guitar and amp designers, a sound room, assembly rooms, and flexible workspaces.
“Our build will foster a dynamic environment that will attract the most sensible skills in engineering, finance, IT, product development, sales and supply chain,” Fender CEO Matt Janopul said in a press release.
“Most importantly, PV’s mixed-use offerings will strengthen Fender’s culture of creativity and innovation and provide our team members with an exceptional painting experience. “
The famed toolmaker’s existing base is near Princess Drive and the Loop 101 Pima Freeway in Scottsdale, approximately 71/2 miles northeast of the long-term site.
Fender joins a developing list of those committed to the 100-acre photovoltaic redevelopment project.
The first is set to open later this year, with Whole Foods, a Harkins movie theater and The Blake apartment complex among the first tenants.
Se espera que Blanco Cocina Cantina, Flower Child, Trevor’s Liquor, Sephora, Aveda, Wren House Brewing Co. and Frost Gelato open in 2024.
An 11-story Life Time sports country club with three hundred luxury rental apartments will open in 2026 as part of Phase II.
“Photovoltaic growth is booming through innovation, demonstrating the enormous effect of transforming the landscape of the former Paradise Valley Mall,” Christine Mackay, Phoenix’s director of networks and economic growth, said in the release.
“The addition of Fender to PV is just one of the many efforts that the progression of vital adjustments is bringing to Phoenix’s future. “
