India and China are fighting for a land so remote that it resembles a rocky base camp on some other planet. It’s cold. It’s sterile There’s nothing there. China declares itss. India says the so-called Line of Control (LAC) in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh is actually very indigenous.
Now they’re at knifepoint. Russian anti-aircraft missiles are coming in. Vladimir Putin is caught among his BRIC partners, Narendra Modi and Xi Jinping. BriCS appear at a very dead time. It’s more than symbolic of that fact.
The upheavals in northern India began in 1962 when the Chinese army sent trooplaystation to the border. Today, some 3 battalions are deployed along THE LAC and their posts are between 9,000 and 18,700 feet in the western, middle and eastern sectors of this new Cold War front between the 2 Asian economic powers.
China reportedly occupied a village in Nepal this week and were spared border crossings to legitimize their annexation, according to major government resources cited through an Indian press service. The last of the line is the village of Rui in Nepal’s Gorkha district, which is believed to see China’s action.
“By straying massively from their diplomatic position of non-interference, the Chinese have now occupied the people of Rui and the people vying for some 72 houses are struggling,” said the Indo-Asian press service, an anonymous government official.
Even assuming Chinese action in this small Nepalese town on the Indian border, the confrontation is intensifying.
Some 40 Indo-Tibetan border patrol corporations are being sent to locations along the LAC in quantities of India, namely Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh.
Border guards are also moving cellular sets such as off-road vehicles, snowmobiles and trucks to Chinese border locations with new “additional” patrol orders after clashes.
Some 4,000 mountain war-trained infantrymen have been freed from other posts in India to Ladakh to confront China, in an army movement just in case.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said local commanders were free to pass on movements they deemed appropriate and did not consult commanders in Delhi.
Singh visiting Russia this week, where he is expected to invite the Russians to speed up the delivery of S-400 anti-missile launchers to place them at the border. China also got the anti-missile formula from Russia and India is now betting on the game.
Cancel Chinese Xiaomi?
On the border with China, some Indian consumers attacked smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi, a non-public Chinese brand.
Xiaomi is now a victim of the “cancellation culture” of social networks, an unaffiliated group station of social media users who join instead of an apple or an individual to bend at their will or be excluded from the market.
There has been a backlash against Chinese companies, Manu Jain, managing director of Xiaomi in India, in an interview with the Economic Times.
He said the “geopolitical scenario” at the border has worsened the Xiaomi brand stage, with other Americans who recently protested outdoors at an apple store.
“There’s a backlash on social media … a crowd mentality that we face. But will it influence our business? I don’t think so,” he said.
