Hispanic food company Insignia International will begin a primary structure assignment on the south side of Centennial Airport, subject to final approval through the Arapahoe County Airport Commission Board and other approvals. The approximately 30,000-square-foot facility, which will serve as the new headquarters, will be built alongside and in collaboration with Wings Over the Rockies – Exploration of Flight, and will feature a state-of-the-art, après-ski-themed food hall, a tequila bar, a terrace, an entertainment and live music area, an educational space, as well as a television production studio.
“We are very excited to collaborate with Centennial Airport and Wings Over the Rockies to build a facility that will indeed be revolutionary,” said Adam Butler, CEO of Insignia. “We invite the network to revel in the incredible Southwest and Hispanic flavors that Insignia represents, such as Hatch Valley’s green chile, while enjoying an immersive aviation experience. “
TJC Limited and JVA Consulting provided engineering to Insignia International on the task and Lodestone Design Group and Wildrye Design provided designArray. According to Butler, Insignia expects to lead the way later this year.
The food corridor is expected to offer high-end food that spans food genres that showcase all the versatility that Hispanic flavors and Southwestern flavors bring to any dish. In addition, it will come with a curated tequila bar, circle of family entertainment options, enough space for outdoor entertainment and live music, games, food, and other attractions for the enjoyment of the circle of relatives. The installation will offer panoramic perspectives of the airport, runway and Rocky Mountains.
“Wings Over the Rockies is a treasure trove for this network and one of the nation’s aviation museums. Our ‘Flight Exploration’ campus at Centennial Airport offers aviation-focused exhibits for visitors of all ages so they can get up close and personal with exclusive aircraft and meet the pilots who fly them, as well as having education focused programming and exhibits for consumers of all ages, adding flight simulators and static aircraft on display. ” said General John Barry, CEO of Wings. “This partnership with 505 Southwestern, which brings wonderful food, entertainment, and more activities and energy to our site, is a huge step forward in our vision of building a family-friendly campus at Centennial Airport.
The master plan for Wings Over The Rockies – Exploration of Flight includes the Blue Sky Gallery, recently opened to the public, and Black Sky, a Disney-style planned experience to explore the wonders of space. The campus is also home to the Colorado SKIES Academy, a charter school focused on education through the lens of science, aviation, and space.
“We are excited about this assignment and what it means for our airport network,” said Mike Fronapfel, General Manager of Centennial Airport. “We are committed to ensuring that this airport is an asset to the network in many ways, and we hope that this task will appeal to both aviation enthusiasts and the general public. “
This announcement comes at an exciting time for Insignia International – which just announced a new call and logo – and the appointment of several senior leadership positions as it continues to expand into new spaces in the Hispanic food market.
“Not only have we more than doubled the length of our company in recent years, but we have also leaned heavily into the Hispanic and Southwest categories,” added Rob Holland, the company’s president. “We acquired 505 Southwestern in 2008 and expanded this logo from a regional gem to the largest potted green chile logo in the United States. Our penchant for modernizing the flavors of Hispanic and Southwestern foods has been at the center of our project for years, if not decades. With this change, our corporate identity and new logo now reflects this.
“We love interacting with the network and sharing our love of smart food,” Holland added. “The facility is the epitome of this, and we can’t wait for a hot summer day to arrive in Colorado, where families come together to pay attention to live music, eat wonderful food, and explore the wonders of aviation in a single day and all. In a convenient location.
