Lawmakers asking for Trump responses on Russian bonds

Lawmakers on both sides are asking the Trump administration to produce data directly on what the president knew and about a report, published through the New York Times and demonstrated through other media, that Russian agents’ agents presented bonds to Taliban fighters about U.S. soldiers.

Friday’s original Report of the Times caused a political storm, and Democrats denounced President Trump’s loss of reaction to an act of immoderate provocation through the Russians as a component of a perceived softness trend toward Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The White House saturday denied the claim of the report that Trump was removed from the bonuses in March, and Trump flatly rejected the report Sunday, tweeting that it was,” he reported via a “huge anonymous source” through Fake News @big appletimes. Everyone denies and there have been big apple attacks opposed to us.

But that favored congressional lawmakers, and House Intelligence Speaker Adam Schiff (California Democrat), tweeted, “If it’s true that Russia presented a reward for the U.S. troop station in Afghanistan and that Trump wasn’t informed, that’s a problem.” asking “What does it take for Trump to abandon the fiction that Putin is our friend?”

But it’s never just Democrats asking for answers; Rep. Liz Cheney (Wyo Republican), the third Republican in the House, tweeted a series of questions that the White House will have to answer if the report is true.

“1. Why was the President or Vice President not informed? Was this wisdom in the [President’s Daily Report]? She asked, “Who knew and when? 3. What was done in reaction to our forces and hold Putin accountable? »»

Cheney was picked up and retwated through several of his colleagues in the Republican Chamber, adding Representative Dan Crenshaw (R-Tex.) And Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), Former Trump Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

The report, through Charlie Savage, Eric Schmitt and Michael Schwirtz of the Times, says U.S. intelligence officials discovered that a Russian army intelligence unit was secretly providing bonds to Taliban militants for killing coalition forces, adding U.S. troops, in Afghanistan. The report also alleges that Trump received a “menu of forward-looking options” to respond after being informed in March, but that Trump elected the information instead. Trump lobbied for Russia to be allowed to attend the G7 summit in May after he was allegedly affected by the bonds.

The Russian embassy strongly denied the Times report, calling it “fake news, advertised in misleading media through the #US intelligence community.”

Trump’s presidency has been mired for years through accusations that his friendship with Russia has reached the point of collusion. While Mueller’s investigation did not bring legal consequences, he inflicted political damage. With less than five months to go through the election, some other widespread scandal similar to Russia can also serve as an additional drag on Trump, who is in a position that drags former Vice President Joe Biden into the polls.
