St. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) – Manuel Margot, Willy Adames and Brandon Lowe ruled Marcus Stroman, taking the Tampa Bay Rays to the New York Mets 7-1 on Sunday for a three-game sweep.
Margot’s two-run home run in the fourth and Adames in the fifth gave way 4-0, and Lowe led the sixth with his seventh home run this season.
“It’s a smart feeling to show some offensiveness, especially the way we behaved last week,” said Adames, who hit Array198. “When your team starts hitting like that, it’s contagious. It’s smart to know that things are moving well in the direction.
Ji-Man Choi hit three hits, a double producer in the eighth inning, in his first game after recovering from arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.
Josh Fleming (3-3) allowed a hit in five innings without tickets, a single in the area through Jeff McNeil at the beginning of the game. Floating left with 53 pitches and withdrew his last batters.
“It’s hard, but I understand, ” he said. I’m not going to sit there and set out my point, that’s how it works for us. If we can throw so well and give the bullpen the ball, I’ll get it.
