PHL and EE. UU. se Commit to Closing Capacity Gaps at EDCA Sites

The Philippines and the United States have committed to closing their capability gaps in the Defense Enhanced Cooperation Agreement (EDCA).

As the Department of National Defense’s (DND) Under Secretary for Logistics, Acquisitions, and Self-Defense Posture, Joselito B. Ramos met with U. S. Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment, Christopher J. Lowman, to discuss logistics functions. of EDCA sites. March 15.

“Wait a second. (The Undersecretary) Ramos also shared with his U. S. counterparts the demanding situations facing the Department of Defense, adding logistics, transportation, resupply, overhaul and maintenance related to projects at EDCA sites,” the DND said in a Monday. night.

He also said both countries had expressed a commitment to addressing gaps at EDCA sites.

“(Both sides) are under pressure that maintaining regional cooperation between like-minded countries will increase interoperability,” the DND said.

EDCA’s first sites are Cesar Basa Air Base in Floridablanca, Pampanga; Fort Magsaysay Military Reserve in Nueva Ecija; Lumbia Airport to Cagayan De Oro; Antonio Bautista Air Force Base in Puerto Princesa, Palawan; and Benito Ebuen Air Base in Cebu.

While the 4 are the Camilo Osias Naval Base in Sta. Ana, Cagayan; Lal-lo Airport in Lal-lo, Cagayan; Melchor Dela Cruz Camp in Gamu, Isabela; and Balabac Island in Palawan.

This puts the interoperability of the U. S. and Philippine militaries at stake, allowing forces to respond in combination more seamlessly to address a variety of demanding situations common in the Indo-Pacific region.
