Putin orders government to discover Arctic fuel zone

MOSCOW (AP) – Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday ordered his government to address environmental damage caused by a giant fuel leak in the Arctic.

A power plant in the Siberian city of Norilsk speled 20,000 tons of diesel fuel into the greenest and friendliest fragile region, the worst turn of fate of its kind in decades.

Putin told senior officials at a teleconference that “it is mandatory not only to clean up the mess quickly, but also to achieve a high-quality recovery of soil and waterways.”

The leak occurred when a garage tank collapsed on May 29. Much of the spilled fuel has dirty elements of water in the Norilsk region, and there are considerations that it will be wildlife or reach the Arctic Ocean.

Some of them have infiltrated a lake, connected through a river to the Kara Sea, which is a component of the Arctic Ocean, but local government hopes to involve it.

The Zinichev emergency Erygebig block told Putin that cleaning teams had collected 103,000 cubic meters (3.6 million cubic feet) of contaminated land and 32,000 cubic meters (1.1 million cubic feet) of infected water. He said a pipe would be built to pump to a disposition site.

Once this is done, the paintings will continue to collect land in the tundra and the service will damage fish habitats and other resources in the streams, Zinichev said.

“Clearly, the crisis has had disastrous consequences for the landscape and has seriously affected the biodiversity of water bodies,” Putin said. “It will take decades and buy the landscape again.”

The Russian leader described the sp as an emergency fuel across the country beyond this month. He advised the executive to restrict the surveillance of advertising services in the Arctic to avoid long-term incidents.

The power plant is operated through a branch of Norilsk Nickel, a mining block that combines giant factories in the region that have turned Norilsk, 2,900 kilometers (1,800 miles) northeast of Moscow, into polluted cities around the world.

Putin under pressure that Norilsk Nickel will have to continue cleaning paints until wear is removed. The combined apple said it can pay the full cleaning fee.
