Putin, 71, has ruled Russia for just 25 years and has now been granted a six-year term.
Russia’s election commission said Putin won more than 76 million votes, a new record.

British Foreign Secretary David Cameron rejected Putin in a speech on X.
“This is what free and fair elections look like,” he wrote.

Protesters took up positions outside polling stations and Russian embassies around the world on Sunday, the last day of the election. Allies of Navalny and his wife, Yulia Navalnaya, have called for the demonstrations. Yulia said she wrote her late husband’s call on the election document through the Russian embassy in Berlin.

Putin commented on Navalny’s death for the first time on Monday, saying he had subsidized a plan to free him in a prisoner swap to be implemented just days after his death.
“There’s Sucede. No anything you can do about it. That’s life,” he said.

In the comments that followed his victory, Putin tried to divert the verbal exchange to electoral issues in the United States. He denounced criminal charges opposing former President Trump, saying “everybody’s laughing at America. “
