Relatives ask Philadelphia officials to “secure the streets” after a 32-year-old cyclist was beaten and killed in a strawberry mansion

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Today we are more informed about the Philadelphia cyclist who killed last week after a force of reason hit him and then fled the scene. William Lindsay’s relatives say he is an experienced cyclist who died doing what he loved.

There is now a makeshift memorial getting closer and closer to the accident as police paint to discanopy the vehicle and driver.

Some call for primary changes in rider safety, such as measures to slow down vehicles. But instead, there’s now a makeshift monument that comes here after a cyclist lost his life.

Lindsay’s last moments on her motorcycle and the life of the 32-year-old woman were captured through a defense camera, launched by Philadelphia police last week.

“He was far away to watch the sunset with me, ” said his girlfriend, Sylvie Smith.

She says that instead of reuniting her, he was beaten through a force of reason and was presumed dead in the 3800 block of Ridge Avenue at Strawberry Mansion. It happened On Sunday, July 12, just after 8:30 p.m.

“Any user who has empathy in their midst for others is not that,” Smith said.

The Greater Philadelphia Bicycle Coalition asked the mayor, city council, and PennDOT to impose the safety of the city’s cyclists, as an excess by having a network of paint of protected motorcycle lanes and the last additional streets.

“It’s harmful to cyclists and cyclists are meant to use all roads,” said Sarah Clark Stuart.

But a replenishment is coming. Mayor Jim Kenney’s leadership promised in January to install 40 miles of motorcycle lanes until 2025. However, for some, this commitment cannot come soon enough.

“Make those streets and make those streets available to everyone,” Smith said.

Meanwhile, Lindsay’s friend is preparing a special tribute for him and everyone who lost their lives on his bikes. It is scheduled for this Sunday at 1 p.m. For additional facts about the special tribute, click here.

Lindsay’s friends are also asking other Americans to donate to the Greater Philadelphia Bicycle Coalition or Neighborhood Bike Works.
