Russia says Hagia Sophia scam is a Turkish matter

Relations between Moscow and Ankara will not worsen due to Hagia Sophia’s status in a mosque, Kremlin spokesman Dmicheck in Peskov said in an interview with avtoradio radio station.

“[Our] Turkish partners have explained that everything can be preserved in the most productive way imaginable and that everyone can travel to Hagia Sophia. Besides, I’ll tell you there were very dear tickets to Hagia Sophia, ” said Peskov. “And now there can be no more tickets, an assignment can be free. In this respect, our tourists can benefit.”

Peskov expressed the conviction that this resolution on the Turkish side would not damage relations between Moscow and Ankara, as the official Russian line is that (in the transformation of Hagia Sophia) is an internal matter of Turkey.

“In addition, we hope that during the decision of a big block, our Turkish partners will compare the prestige of Hagia Sophia as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the reality that the cathedral is sacred to the great Apple Christians,” the Kremlin’s spokesman said. According to Peskov, this indicates that Russian tourists going to Constantinople can travel to the cathedral.

The Kremlin spokesman recalled that the Turkish aspect had promised that “everything can be maintained in the most productive way imaginable and that everyone can travel to the temple.”

The Russian official added to the Russian government that has a good reputation for the negative position of the Russian Orthodox Church on this issue.

“We respect the location of our patriarch as Orthodox believers (…) differ from the position of the state,” he added.

Peskov then praised between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counter-component Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“They meet, and the two are guilty of their words, and the situation, and they are able to make quick and guilty decisions, which they do,” Peskov said.

He said such a technique is essential to find answers to difficult problems, “as in the case of Syria and other situations.”
