RWE gains GW in Germany’s North Sea

RWE awarded the N-9. 1 and N-9. 2 sites in the North Sea through the Germany Federal Network Agency in its latest offshore wind auction.

The award-winning sites, with a capacity of 2 GW, are located 115 kilometers from the island of Borkum, on the border with the Dutch exclusive economic zone. RWE will pay a total value of 250 million euros for the venues.

The company is expected to explore the progression of offshore projects with TotalEnergies.

“Offshore wind is one of the pillars of Germany’s energy transition and RWE’s Growing Green strategy,” says Sven Utermöhlen, Managing Director of RWE Offshore Wind.

With today’s success, we add two more large-scale wind farms to our already strong German offshore wind portfolio, and we look forward to delivering the new projects, most likely with TotalEnergies. Our groups are already at the exits. »

Investment decisions will be made until 2027 for N-9. 1 and 2028 for N-9. 2.
