Snap has launched an internal investigation into allegations of racism and sexism at the company, Business Insider has learned. The investigation comes after some former employees spoke out in June about shrinking diversity and what they called biased editorial practices.

Snap has leased a law firm that has contacted current staff and beyond to conduct interperspectives as a component of a “confidential investigation,” resources were told to Business Insider. Two appeals said lawyers asked staff if they had experienced or witnessed discrimination in their time on Snap and Snapchat, and in components asked about the stories of former employees shared in a June 9 Mashable article describing Snapchat Stories’ racist habit and editorial decisions. The research trajectory echoes recent comments through Snap CEO Evan Spiegel, who told staff at a full assembly last month that the apple was investigating the incidents described on Twitter and reported through Mashable. In June, former staff who identified the property as other Americans of color told Mash that they had experienced a racist culture, adding management, while running for Snapchat between 201 and five years. Spiegel told the plenary assembly that the company’s apple was running to respond to accusations of racism and “cut diversity,” but he also defended the company’s apple stocks, adding his resolve not to reveal internal diversity figures, staff said. In the notes received through Business Insider, Spiegel told staff that publishing Snap’s diversity knowledge would mean that minority group stations are underrepresented in the generation industry.

Spiegel told staff that the combined apple diversity figures were those of other generation companies, which have long skewed whites and humans. According to the sources, Spiegel said the combined apple would be seen with a diverse diversity of candidates, but did not specify what Snap would do.

Since the inception of Snapchat in 2011, the compared apple has never released a diversity report and has hired its first diversity and inclusion manager in 2019.

Snap had been criticized in 2016 for a multitude of transparent exits that were related to racism: a transparent outlet that used “whitewashed” users, another that channeled Asian stereotypes and gave users biased eyes, and a transparent “Bob Marley” output that obscured users’ skin tones on a moving virtual black face.
