PHOENIX – St. Luke’s Behavioral Health Center in Phoenix has been closed due to health and safety concerns, it was announced Thursday.

The behavioral hospital transferred its patients this weekend due to the conditions of the facility and the care provided, the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) reported in an email to KTAR News 92. 3 FM.

“ADHS took immediate action to address the protective and physical fitness considerations of patients at St. John’s Hospital. “Luke’s Behavioral Hospital in Phoenix,” the state’s fitness branch said in a statement. “We and our sister firm AHCCCS arrived promptly at the scene to assess the situation, adding the state of the facility and patient care. “

ABC15 Arizona reported that the facility’s air conditioning was not working and the lobby was 99 degrees Friday morning. Other issues that led to the suspension included kitchen and staffing issues.

More than 70 patients, 22 minors, have been relocated.

“Our priority is the fitness, protection, and well-being of patients,” DHS said. “We recognize the effects that hospital closure can have on the behavioral fitness formula overall and remain committed to engaging with state agencies and the behavioral fitness formula as a whole.

“We remain committed to selling a fitness formula that meets the desires of others in our state.

The status quo has 127 beds and is at 18th and Van Buren streets.

Provides inpatient and outpatient care to Americans requiring psychiatric and chemical dependency care.

St. Luke’s is part of the Steward Health Care network.

Steward Health Care filed for bankruptcy protection in Texas in May and announced plans to sell its 31 hospitals in the United States.
