State geologists have concluded that there is strong evidence that seismic failures are passing through the site of a debatable skyscraper that is consistent with the proposed progression for Hollywood, according to records received through the Times.
A letter from the California Geological Survey to Los Angeles planners, received through a public records law request, raises new questions about the design of the Hollywood Center. The assignment requires 46-story and 35-story skyscrapers that flank the famous Capitol Records Tower, two low-source buildings for seniors that could be 11 stories high.
“These studies strongly demonstrate the presence of a chain of active faults … that enter the assets of the east middle of Hollywood,” the letter reads. “Especially, combined knowledge means that more than one … evidence of a Hollywood failure failure is executed through the proposed project site.”
