WASHINGTON (TND) — Reports that Donald Trump’s would-be assassin, Thomas Matthew Crooks, posted a message on a gaming platform foreshadowing that his shooting would possibly turn out to be fake.
The FBI now believes that the Steam account in Crooks’ call that posted “July 13th will be my first time, look what happens” is fake.
CNN reported the update after being informed Thursday morning.
U. S. senators were briefed on the message at a briefing with senior law enforcement officials on Wednesday, according to CNN.
The National Desk contacted Steam and the FBI for information related to the alleged fake account.
The FBI has commented on our investigation.
Investigators are continuing to dig deeper into what motivated Crooks in the days leading up to the assassination attempt at the Butler, Pennsylvania, rally.
Officials told CNN that Crooks sought out the dates of the Democratic National Convention and Trump’s rally in Butler. She also reported that Crooks had pictures of President Joe Biden and former President Trump on his phone.
On July 13, criminals opened fire from a rooftop about 130 yards from the rally site in Butler, Pennsylvania, seriously wounding two attendees and killing another, named former firefighter Corey Comperatore.
The former president was moved during the shooting and was treated at a local hospital, before calling for unity and resilience.
