“This is the place where we spend the day selling our hats and talking to wonderful people, as most of the attendees parked their cars in a giant grass parking lot, got out of their vehicles and walked through the line of vendors to the security entrance,” Tomko said.
By 4:15 p. m. , most people were inside the perimeter of the demonstration, Tomko said, and for about 15 minutes, he, his family and friends “began documenting the colorful scene of the vendors’ argument with a video, while flags waving in the wind looked very patriotic.
They took 3 videos and planned to upload one to Iron Clad USA’s social media pages. It wasn’t until a week after Tomko and his friends and family were in their photos that they learned they had captured the shooter.

“I felt shock, disbelief and sadness knowing that I had such a video on my phone,” Tomko said. “I personally contacted the police to share the video in the hope that it could help identify a timeline of the events of that day, and I was subsequently interviewed through them. We then posted a video on social media (7/23/24) in an effort to raise awareness and potentially help others in the timeline of their research. Initially, our video didn’t get much attention, and it didn’t a few days ago. . . went viral.
After Crooks opened fire around 6:11 p. m. , Tomko’s sister called him at 6:14 p. m.
“Trump has been shot,” he said. Leave immediately, get out of there now. “
Tomko saw other people fleeing the protest site and called his son-in-law, who was inside the protest perimeter, at 6:16 p. m. to make sure he was okay.

“After what seemed like an eternity, I received a text from him at 6:21 p. m. , letting me know he was physically okay,” Tomko said. “I will then be informed that my son-in-law’s status was in the same segment of stands as Mr. Corey Comperatore and his circle of family, and unfortunately I witnessed the surely devastating shooting. Our circle of family was horrified to learn that this had happened and that was so close to where it happened. “
He expressed his condolences to Comperatore’s family and the families of others affected by the assassination attempt.

An initial report released last week through Rep. Clay Higgins, R-La. , found that the 8 bullet casings had been recovered and were property of the FBI. Higgins said Crooks’ position on the roof of the AGR building gave him concealment. of the northern counter-sniper team thanks to the foliage and branches of two trees.
A Butler SWAT operator was shot through from the ground, about a hundred meters from the AGR building. The shot hit the butt of Crooks’ rifle, fracturing his face and shoulders due to the damaged stock, Higgins said.

Higgins believes that this shot broke the shock absorber tube of Crooks’ rifle and that the rifle would not have fired after its eighth shot.
The report also states that the FBI released Crooks’ frame for cremation just 10 days after his death. Higgins said he realized this after looking at the frame.
An FBI spokesperson told Fox News Digital that Crooks’ body was returned to his family after coordination with the coroner’s office and state and local authorities “in accordance with general procedures. “
