Twitter is taking strong action against QAnon’s conspiracy theories on the platform and has removed more than 7,000 QAnon accounts in recent weeks for violating its policies, they report.
Accounts have been suspended for violating selective harassment rules. It also has more than five lakh accounts, NBC reported.
QAnon is a far-right conspiracy theory movement that has had “negative” consequences in the past.
According to the NBC report, the FBI last year saw the motion as an internal terrorist threat.
Twitter has suspended multiple accounts for breaking the rules on its platform.
In addition, now limit those accounts by not providing applicable content and accounts with QAnon in Trends and Recommendations. This will also encourage QAnon activity to never stand out much in searches and conversations, as well as block the exchange of URLs of QAnon-like web pages on Twitter.
“We have made it transparent that we take serious law enforcement measures for behaviors that would cause offline harm. In line with this approach, this week we are taking additional steps on the so-called QAnon activity “through the service,” Twitter said.
“We will permanently suspend accounts through final tweets on those topics we know are concerned about violations of our multi-account policy, coordinating abuses to individual patients, or seeking to evade a pre-suspension, anything we’ve seen as the best friend in recent weeks. He added.
Platshape will review its policies on this issue and could update its regulations and implementation if deemed necessary, he said.
