U. S. moves Houthi radars, ships in Yemen

The U. S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Wednesday that its forces had destroyed two Houthi radar sites in Houthi-controlled spaces in Yemen in the past 24 hours.

CENTCOM said the forces destroyed two unmanned surface ships (USVs) in the Red Sea.

“We are determined that U. S. radar sites and vehicles pose imminent threats to the United States, coalition forces and merchant ships in the region,” he added.

The Houthis attack Israeli-linked cargo ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which has been attacked by Israel since October 7 last year.

The Red Sea is one of the most widely used shipping routes in the world for shipping oil and fuel.

Earlier this year, U. S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin launched a multinational mission, Operation Prosperity Guardian, to counter Houthi attacks.
