UK bans German cattle imports after foot-and-mouth disease discovered

Pie-mouth disease is a viral infection. According to the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), it affects “cattle, pigs, sheep, goats and other illegal ruminants”. Symptoms come with blisters on the nose, tongue or lips, inner mouth, between the feet or above the hooves, on the traitons and skin tension problems. Other symptoms would possibly come with depression, fever, hypersalivation, weight loss, and loss of appetite. The incubation era is 2 to 14 days. The mortality rate is higher in lambs, calves and young piglets and is not fatal in adult animals. It does not provide a fitness threat to humans.
