The Russian Foreign Ministry said Ukraine had used Western rockets, most likely American-made HIMARS, to destroy a bridge over the Seïm River.
The Ukrainian president tweeted: “The front line remains our most sensible priority, especially the Pokrovsk and Toretsk directions.
“The operation in the Kursk region: we are strengthening our positions and replenishing the foreign fund for Ukraine.
“I am grateful to our warriors. ”
The bridge is near the city of Glushkovo and the Ukrainian army has been advancing in the Kursk region for ten days.
The Kremlin said the explosion killed volunteers evacuating civilians.
“For the first time, the Kursk region has been hit by Western-made rocket launchers, the American HIMARS,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said late Friday on the Telegram messaging app.
“As a result of the attack on the bridge over the Seim River in the Glushkovo region, it was completely destroyed, and the volunteers who helped the evacuated civilian population were killed. “
Ukrainian army leader Oleksandr Syrskyi said on Friday that Kyiv’s forces were advancing between 1 and 3 kilometers in some areas of the Kursk region, 11 days after the start of an incursion into Russia.
