Ukrainian oil tank catches fire after Russian attack (authorities)

(MENAFN-IANS) Kyiv, Aug 20 (IANS) A fuel and lubricant facility in Ukraine’s western Ternopil region caught fire on Tuesday morning after a Russian attack, with no initial reports of casualties, the regional government said.

The projectile fired by Russian forces hit the garage in the city of Ternopil around 3 a. m. local time, according to the Ternopil regional army administration, the Xinhua news firm reported, citing the Interfax-Ukraine press.

More than 90 rescue personnel and more than 20 crews, plus two fire engines, worked to put out the fire. The local government advised people to stay home and close their windows.

The Ukrainian capital was also attacked overnight with drones and cruise missiles, which caused no casualties, the Kiev city army leadership reported, adding that all air targets were intercepted on the outskirts of the city.

Russia fired 26 Shahed combat drones, two Iskander M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, one Iskander-K cruise missile and several Kh-59 guided missiles at Ukraine in one attack, the Ukrainian air force army said.

Ukrainian air defenses shot down 25 drones, one cruise missile and two guided missiles in regions, according to the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
