Casia G’s Advanced DAA System Accelerates the Trend of Approved, Safe, and Efficient BVLOS Operations
Fayetteville, AR and Bigfork, MT – Unmanned Vehicle Technologies, LLC (UVT) and uAvionix are pleased to jointly announce that UVT has obtained a waiver from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to operate small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS) beyond the line (BVLOS) at its control site in Michigan. This waiver, granted under Part 107 regulations, allows UVT to particularly leverage its operational capabilities, opening up new avenues for remote business applications.
The waiver, known as 107W-2024-01230, allows UVT to perform BVLOS operations without the need for visual observers (VOs). This capability is made possible by the integration of the uAvionix Casia G ground-based detection and avoidance (DAA) system. , which provides comprehensive airspace awareness and ensures the safe operation of drones beyond the visual diversity of the remote pilot at the controls (PIC).
Expanding Functions with Technology
The uAvionix Casia G formula played a huge role in obtaining this exemption. Casia G is a complex DAA solution designed to trip and avoid other aircraft, enabling reliable BVLOS operations. This generation has already been highlighted in UVT’s recent customer approval. , the Oswego Police Department’s Drone as a First Responder (DFR) program, which also uses the Casia G formula.
“We are thrilled to have obtained this exemption from the FAA, which validates our commitment to protection and innovation in the UAS industry,” said Matthew Rybar, vice president of remote operations at UVT. “uAvionix’s Casia G formula is a game-changer, allowing us to expand our operational functions and explore new programs for our technology. “
Supporting a trend
The granting of this UVT exemption reflects a broader trend in the UAS industry, where advertising entities and public agencies are increasingly obtaining BVLOS exemptions. These approvals underscore the critical role of complex DAA technologies like Casia G in ensuring safe and effective UAS operations.
“Our generation’s good fortune in obtaining BVLOS waivers for the UVT and the City of Oswego Police Department is a testament to their reliability and effectiveness,” said Jon Damush, CEO of uAvionix. “We anticipate that more corporations and departments will join suit, leveraging Casia G’s features for their UAS operations. ”
Long-term applications and implications.
With the ability to perform BVLOS operations, UVT is in a position to explore a diversity of applications, adding infrastructure inspection, agricultural monitoring and emergency response. The Michigan verification site will serve as a verification floor for those applications, demonstrating the potential of BVLOS. industry remodeling operations and operational efficiency.
The FAA’s exemption includes several provisions to ensure safety, such as maintaining a maximum altitude of 240 feet above ground level, employing geofencing to confine operational areas, and employing pre-planned routes for automated flights. In addition, the Casia G formula must be operational all BVLOS operations, offering real-time airspace awareness to the remote PIC.
