In January 2025, when US President Donald Trump took office, many netizens discovered that a specific online government page was no longer available. The reproductiverights. gov site, which was operational during the previous administration, was reportedly offline, based on online messages and questions. submitted to us via Snopes readers.
Readers asked us if the Trump administration had shut down the site, with many pointing to the TikTok video that said: “The Donald Trump administration has officially shut down reproductiverights. gov, a government-funded site that provided data and resources to Women seeking reproductive care.
We opened reproductiverights. gov in several browsers and discovered that the online page was indeed offline. The online page appeared functional as of at least January 15, 2025, discovered in file links. Trump was inaugurated on January 20, 2025, at which time the site in question was reportedly closed. As such, we consider this to be true.
However, we do not know why the site was closed, if it is part of the new administration’s agenda or if it is a technical problem. We have reached out to the Trump administration for more information and will update this story accordingly.
According to archival website archive.org, reproductiverights.gov was online as recently as Jan. 15, 2025. Archive.li, another site that archives web pages, had its most-recent archive of the page from November 2024.
Reproductiverights. gov was created in 2022 through the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services. The U. S. Department of Homeland Security has been launched in the U. S. , as an awareness campaign for others seeking abortion resources and other reproductive health tips. The site contained a “Know Your Rights” fact sheet that included, among other topics, “Your Right to Access Abortion. ”
After the United States Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade – the 1973 resolution that guaranteed federal abortion coverage for all women – as of June 2022, the government contained the following information:

Mifepristone, mixed with misoprostol, has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) since 2000 for early termination of pregnancy and is effective when used as directed. Currently, mifepristone for medication abortion is available for distribution by mail through qualified prescribers or through qualified pharmacies for prescriptions dispensed through qualified prescribers, as well as for in-person distribution at clinics, doctors’ offices, and hospitals.
The above information refers to a drug that can be used to terminate a pregnancy within 10 weeks of gestation.
The site also said, “If you want help paying for an abortion, the Abortion Funds will possibly provide you with monetary assistance. “You can find information about abortion budgeting and resources to help you AbortionFinder. org.
It’s conceivable that Trump’s leadership would shut down this site, given that Trump has continually boasted that he was guilty of overturning Roe v. Wade (although it was a Supreme Court decision) and said that abortion regulations deserve to be left to the discretion of the government. Deleting the online page would be consistent with the new administration’s policy. However, we cannot say for sure as there is no official or independent confirmation.
