Make us laugh at “the crazy way social isolation has replaced our lives in all its forms”
Danny Elfman shared a new song and short film, exploring a preference for intimacy in a pandemic. Watch and pay attention to “Love In The Time Of Covid” below.
The track follows the “extraterrestrial orchestral chamber punk” of the bachelor “Sorry” and the “absurd anti-pop song” “Happy”, the composer’s first solo music in 36 years.
“In fact, there’s nothing satisfied or fun in Covid, but I can still laugh at how social isolation has replaced our lives in every sense, and for that it’s ‘Love In The Time of Covid’,” Elfman said of the new song in a press release.
Written “from the point of view of a crazy young man in his apartment,” Elfguy describes the piece as “an expression of the limit madness that many of us have experienced. God knows I have.
The short film accompanying the song is directed by German filmmaker Sven Gutjahr and Elfman director Berit Gilma and features Scottish transgender artist Shrek 666, with Elfman making several cameos.
Speaking about the video, the composer added: “Creators Gutjahr and Gilma had the concept of the main character in a green-skinned animal-like creature. Like many of us we feel absolutely alienated in this crazy new world we live in, and I think it’s an attractive concept.
“Love In The Time Of Covid” was released today (February 11), and after the release of “Sorry” on January 11, Elfman will release new music on The 11th of each month indefinitely.
As he explained in a press release, number 11 has a special for him, “Elf” translated into 11 in German.
